Here is a question for a lot of you. Do you use a phone? Does it have a gauge telling you how many hours it will last or do you estimate how much time you have left, or do you say I am at 20% so I should charge?

For the MTE, the only thing worse than no info, is inaccurate info.

I would love to have a gauge that tells me my range based on my instantaneous usage of energy along with my % at arrival. Maybe with just a touch of smoothing. Don't even bother with the bogus EPA ratings to calc anything.

I like the phone analogy and maybe the tiny battery “pill” with a percentage meets the need on the driver display good enough.

As for the instantaneous usage, I think the drive mode menu (attached screenshot for reference) would be the perfect place. The only part of the vehicle diagram that currently gets used is the wheels (showing power and regen) and the steering orientation. The big battery in the middle would be a perfect place to show a numeric value or some other intuitive info.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
Also. There aren't as many charging stations as there are gas stations so the anxiety kicks in. For myself, my wife and I went to Breckenridge, CO a couple of weeks ago for 2 days (2hr 10min from our home) and we took our ICE vehicle because I didn't want to try to find a fast charger that works. Breck only has one and it has a very low rating. When we go back in April for our week long stay we will drive the R1T because we are staying at a place that has level 2 chargers in the parking garage so I know I will be able to charge during the week I am there.
Even with Rivian having access to the Tesla Supercharger network?

I live in southern Colorado. We come up Colorado 9 through Alma from the other side of Breck. I didn't want the extra 20 min one way drive to a Supercharger from the place we were staying at peak 9. That 40min round trip cuts into my ski and fun time. If I drive my ICE, I can stop anywhere and gas up in 5 minutes and be on my way.

Ah ok that makes more sense. I guess I shouldn't assume that everyone lives in the Denver area. Even though with the I-70 traffic it sure seems like it.

We used to live in Ft. Collins. Moved south 8 years ago. The drive is so much better coming up the back way from the south. Deer are the only things to watch for.
