Honestly, I'd be surprised if there were more than 1000 LE vehicles. It won't take them long to contact them all. The Toyota Supra had a Launch Edition that was only like 1500.
May be you are correct, Lyriq Debut Edition - 1500, Kia EV6 First Edition - 1500. So LE may be 1000 R1T and 1000 R1S?

I think the problem people are having estimating the number of LE orders were based off of preorders. I do not think the number of preorders had anything to do with LE orders. My guess is the looked at what they think the initial Ramp up would look like and set a fixed number, once they hit that number they closed the door.

Without understanding what their criteria for setting the cap was, there is no real way to calculate that number, it is a swag for everyone not in the inner circle.
Precisely. As I pointed out a few posts back, the only thing you can infer from the number of preorders when the configurator launched is the absolute max cap on the potential number of LE reservations.

Despite the pandemic and semi-conductor shortages felt by vehicle manufacturers, it does not look like they are far off in the delivery estimates.
I'm a realist, and even when putting my deposit down way back when, I thought the dates were a tad optimistic for a brand new vehicle.

The recent review videos definitely amp up the hype, and if they wanted to could probably start spitting out trucks.

I'd prefer they work out the observable minor bugs, including software and interface, prior to delivery. I also don't mind being later in the delivery chain especially if there are unforeseen issues that crop up after recipients start putting a few clicks on their vehicles.

I don't need to be the first one on the block with a Rivian, I'll be patient and expect a complete and trouble-free vehicle.

I stated LE preorder holders. I believe it's unlikely they will be able to hit that.
Not on your original responses here. Just making sure for everyone that you're referring specifically to LE preorder holders when you generally referring to preorder holders.

I'd wager they won't be contacting everyone (or even a majority) of preorder holders by Thanksgiving, but I think the return on that wager would be pretty damn low.
That means available meeting times for all preorder holders and having folks available during these times to talk.

No, no it's not. Not at all. Reaching out is an email. Technically RJ reached out to all LE preorder holders. This is substantive, including delivery timing. Hell man, it even says so here:

https://rivian.com/support/article/when-can-i-take-delivery

If you have a Launch Edition preorder, your Rivian Guide will reach out to you by November with expected delivery timing.

I'm not sure how much more clear it can get. They have 8 weeks and change to do this. I don't believe they will be able to pull it off. (although I hope they do)
To be fair, expected delivery timing could be very vague. Note they include the word expected...I assume many people will get something like "Spring". There will be many where their service center is still in construction with an unknown completion date. I would not expect to get a firm delivery date at that time.
Precisely. As I pointed out a few posts back, the only thing you can infer from the number of preorders when the configurator launched is the absolute max cap on the potential number of LE reservations.
My completely made up guess/opinion is that LE is what they thought they could deliver in first six months or so, or the Mar/Spring timetable someone somewhere postulated. That's definitely not 10k+.

You can't deliver a LE in year 2+...

From the Guide Story email/info

This introduction email will include your Guide’s direct contact information and an invitation to set up a phone call to discuss your configuration and share your estimated delivery timing.

RJ emailing all reservation holders is not a Guide contact. A guide reaching out with an introduction and an invitation to set up a call is. The call does not have to be completed for it to qualify as contact.

I apologize. I was thinking it and didn't express my thought fully. Thanks for making me clarify.

100% on board with this being the bar. As a LE preorder holder, reach out to me, introduce yourself as my Guide and invite me to setup a reasonable time to discuss / confirm my configuration and delivery date.

The call itself is not the requirement, but should be scheduled in a not-to-distant time. For instance, if I get contacted on the last day of November, I should have an option to pick a time over in or before mid December - not early 2022.

I'm hopeful that we can all get behind this and head off any semantics discussions.

No worries. I've definitely been there. I also can't edit what I write unless it's about a year later because I insert what I meant to say, rather than what I said. Someone else's writing? Easy peezy.

Meh. I'm with @DucRider. I'll obviously ask when can I get it, and if the two or three technical questions I have aren't answered yet, I'll be asking them. I expect to be on the phone for about 3 minutes. And I'm guessing the guide will try to run through a script that takes 10 minutes. I'm not a talker. So.... I'll hustle up the script and be done with the call in 5. And then proceed to text them every 5 minutes till my truck arrives or I can fly to Normal to pick it up.

Same here. Max for me would be 5 minutes. Just give me a solid delivery time so I don't have to fill out a loan app a 3rd time (filled one out in May with excitement). Also paid our handy man $1500 to sand blast , prime, and paint our car port back in May.

I am hoping their definition of "expected delivery timing" is more specific than I keep getting from CS so far re: Canadian R1S deliveries "beginning deliveries in November 2021 for both of our Launch Edition R1T, and R1S preorder holders"

Which, by the way, I really doubt will happen in Canada seeing as next to no-one in the USA even has their R1Ts yet....let alone R1S....

25 guides
12 calls each per day
300 LE contacts per day
6 weeks (30 business days)
9,000 LE contacts.

Wouldn't take hundreds of guides, just a couple of dozen.

Some calls will be short. Not much for me to chat with them about until I can see and drive the R1T.
Thanks for doing the math.

Great and fun answer/plan. Cut to it, bring answers, bring me my car.
