Got a chance to stop by this afternoon after some college tours with our son. As many of you know, Laguna Beach is one of the world’s special places, and the Rivian theatre space is equally tremendous.

The local Rivian crew was super stoked to have another Rivian owner in to visit, and they and I were still buzzing heavily from the R2/R3/TripleX Reveal from RJ earlier this month. They recounted stories of the event and how electric the room was during RJ’s pitch, and confirmed how amazing it was that the company was able to keep the R3/R3X under tight wrap prior to the reveal.

This was likely covered in the earlier monster threads, but the crew mentioned that the R3 was hand built and manufactured in the O.C., which I must have missed. They also said that Rivian was the O.C.’s second or third largest employer and had 16+ some odd offices in the county.

That space is awesome. I’ve had the chance to see a film there as well as pop in and talk to the staff who are all amazing. Looks like you enjoyed your trip!

^Last pic just happened unknowingly to catch SpaceX launch last night driving up the 405. I’m a hater but it was cool.

I love pictures of rocket launches taken 15 minutes before sunrise or 15 minutes after sunset. You start getting those deep colors of the night time sky and then the smoke trail is lit up incredibly bright because it's still daytime at 100,000' of altitude and higher. I have a similarly timed picture of STS-131 taken right before sunrise.
