Shout out to Rivian for leading the US auto industry on this. This needs to be adopted more widely, especially as headlights get brighter and obscure visibility.

That's one of the reasons headlights are $5K each now.

My first vehicle back in 1979 used $12 headlights, they were dim enough that they couldn't blind oncoming drivers even on highbeams from 10 ft away. See, problem solved for $12

The new headlights are one of the (very) few key reasons I'd sell my G1T for a G2T.

Watched a video about a Taycan on the Autobahn with dynamic headlights doing this and more. It even would light up the adjacent lane when changing lanes.
Sure, very nice, but not a must-have for me. In my view, the auto high-beam feature alone on my Teslas works very well. I believe my R1S does it, too; have not driven it in a long time.

The new headlights are an incredible feature for me. I drive a lot in rural areas without streetlights. The fact that they illuminate turns and move around traffic allows me to see things I cannot in any other vehicle. They make a big difference if you drive in rural areas where high beams are a must.

Does anyone have s video of how this adaptive beam appears to an oncoming vehicle? I see my “bending” on oncoming traffic but have no idea how nice it must be.

I finally experienced these headlamps last weekend. I honestly didn’t know about the feature so I thought my car was having a mental breakdown. However, on coming cars didn’t flash me, not even once. It really does work. I do think Rivian could tune the system a bit more. There are times the system blinks off and on for no apparent reason. All in all, I like it.
