I am nearly convinced to switch from Spotify to Apple Music. However, I listen to a lot of podcasts. Is there a native podcast player in the Rivian interface other than Spotify? Or will I need to stream through bluetooth via an app on my phone? This might be a deal-breaker.

No native. Your options are:

Already available:
  • Spotify
  • Tidal (do they have podcasts?)
  • TuneIn
  • Alexa > Amazon Music
  • Bluetooth
Rolling out now w/ latest update:
  • Apple Music
  • Audible
So for your consideration, whether Spotify or Apple Music, you'll be supported.

Not sure what this bot is going on about.

There is no podcast app, nor does Apple Music support podcasts. You can get podcasts via Spotify or Audible. Each has some exclusives, so you may need to use one or both, depending on your podcast preferences, and you will not be able to access Apple exclusive podcasts.

Woah, Apple Music in the Rivian won't support podcasts?! That seems like a huge miss. I'm a Spotify subscriber and that does seem like a deal breaker then. It'll be bluetooth then if you go w/ Apple Music. Guess through BT via the Podcasts app?

Yes that is disappointing. I don't know why Apple has a separate app for Podcasts. This could easily be incorporated into their Music app.

I mean, I feel like they're pretty up front with their app names :CWL:

I think it's preferable to have them separate - in the days before Apple Music, my Spotify homescreen in the Rivian was a mess and made it hard to switch back and forth between podcasts and music. If I listened to podcasts on my commute for 3 days in a row, then all my music playlists would get pushed off the home screen, all the suggestions and shortcuts, etc. were podcast related. To switch to music I had to go diving into the Spotify menus, and I would lose all the discovery options until I played music for a day or so.

Now at least I can use Apple Music for music and Spotify (free) for podcasts which will make it easier to toggle between them. A native podcast app with discovery features and app controls related to podcasts would be nicer, of course, but Spotify in "podcast mode" isn't too far off.

TuneIn absolutely supports podcasts in the native app, you do not have to stream via Bluetooth unless you want to.

I prefer PocketCasts so I stream via Bluetooth, but not because I have to.
