Off road drift sure looks like a blast. Although I will never do it with my own truck. Where's Chad?
Are there not empty snow covered parking lots in Colorado? ?

Oh, plenty of them. But I prefer to abuse trucks not owned by me while mine stays nice and pristine at the trailhead plugged in.

the lack of engine sound was eery. It's going to take me awhile to get used to that.

I see myself in old age saying something like "back in my day, if someone was speeding down the road, you heard them coming and going. Both ways, uphill"

Awesome video that also looked like northern Arizona and the Cinders which I've been to would be a cool place to take the Rivian.

- Awesome video, production quality, scenery and audio
- 95% of the time I'll be in All Purpose or Conserve, but still awesome to see capabilities
- Excited about Rivian Blue :)

Great video. I would assume that Off-Road would be great for the snowy mess the northeast just received.

On Instagram stories, the 8 modes are intro'd with a slide that says: "We are launching with eight drive modes for the R1T..."

Maybe its semantics but the word "launch" really gives me a bad impression - didn't Rivian launch in 4+ months ago when it "sold" R1Ts in September?
I think the point is, if you take delivery of a Rivian today (or in the past few months), you get 8 drive modes. Maybe there will be more later.

There are plenty of places to critique Rivian comms but I think this is pretty innocent ?

I really want to know how they turned off the low speed hum for the rock crawl section.

I wish they would release something like this using the R1S. I have to imagine they will be nearly identical. It seems overdue.
I suspect they're planning a new campaign when the R1S starts shipping in some (minor) volumes. In my mind, the R1S is going to blow the market away - a true EV SUV. They're (appropriately IMHO) focusing now on the thing they're shipping most of - R1T and all the new technologies they've introduced. With the R1S they can reinforce the technological platform and talk about a luxury SUV for everyone.

Don't the Land Rovers have options like Snow, Mud/Ruts, Sand etc? What would be the best Rivian mode for snow and sand respectively? Also, I notice some R1T reviews offroad in Rock Crawling for max ride height but then complain the ride is stiff. Seems they'd be better off in Off-Road Auto, right? Unless it really, really needs to rock crawl or needs a wee bit more ride height.

I’d use auto off road.

Presumably a prototyp/test vehicle, so it can do what it wants. Mfg plates are a golden ticket
