What I really really really do not understand is people being confused by this. Did you even read any (or even my original) post here?I really really really do not understand comparisons like this.
Might as well compare a 4Runner (R2) to a Camry (MME).
They're different vehicles, for different uses.
Decide what you need, then shop for vehicles in that category. Why cross shop against other categories? Are you trying to narrow your choices or widen them? If all categories are on the table, what is your main selection criterion?
I have an R1S. My wife has a Mach-E. We are considering the Rivian R2 because I like my Rivian and it would make sense that the Mach-E would be the one to go for the R2. We are not cross shopping the two. We already own the Mach-E. This would be a trade-in. The comparison is more to see if the upgrade is worth it.
As for your comparison, not exactly the same. The Mach-E is going to be in the same category as the R2. This is the class of the Model Y, Ioniq 5, Volkswagen ID4, Cadillac Optiq, Kia EV6 and so on. They are all very different but it is just what the class looks like at the moment.
Your comment made it sound like I'm comparing a R1S to a Model 3, which even if I did, who cares? Adding to that, I'm sure a few people likely have done that comparison as well when buying a new car. People's need change or can be flexible. Checking out all the options out there is a good thing. No idea why someone finds that odd.
