Since I posted concern about them not getting back to my email, I wanted to update that they did get back to me today.

For anyone who might be interested, here's the information they sent me:

If the ring is defective we will replace it. If the ring has no defect but is still not working with your vehicle we will issue a refund.

CNICK bracelet comes with an extra elastic cord and stone beads, in case you need to change the size you can easily assemble a new bracelet.
Please follow our size guide for finding the correct size.
Chip is embedded in the round center bead.

Update: Received my ring from CNICK today and to my relief it works. Ordered on 7/15 and keycard en route to them next day.

CNICK sent me a prepaid label to mail the ring back to them to investigate any issues after I provided them with the video showing it wasn't working. I'll update here once I hear back from them, but it will probably be a few weeks I'd imagine.

I will say that CNICK customer service has been nice and responsive throughout this so far, so I'm hopeful there will be a resolution one way or another.
Last update from my experience:

CNICK was very responsive and provided a prepaid label for me to ship the ring back for them to inspect for any issues. The shipping took a few weeks as they are HQ'd overseas, but once it was delivered the team reached out to me to let me know that everything from their end looked fine and that the ring should theoretically be working.

Since we had already done extensive testing before I mailed it back, and we knew that the regular keycards DO work and my truck isn't the issue, I asked CNICK for a refund which they were kind enough to give me without any sort of hassle. They even offered to send the ring back for no charge so it wouldn't just go to waste, which is really above and beyond customer experience that I found very thoughtful.

I'm still awaiting the ring to be returned, but even without it, getting a refund at a minimum was fine with me. I knew this was a newer product and that I was at risk of losing my spare card in the process, so overall a fun experiment that didn't quite work out.

I will say again though, I was very impressed that CNICK support was so quick and helpful in trying to make this work and I did appreciate how responsive and transparent the team was throughout the process. Hopefully my issues were a one off fluke and others are able to get their rings to work out of the box. It really would be a great and convenient product during adventures, and the ring style and quality was pretty good for the price.

The least expensive options are $120.
Brings back memories of Josten’s and the social stigma of having to settle for a high school ring made of “Ultrium”.

PSA for anyone considering the CNICK Rivian Ring - Day 1 "Great" Recommendation (depending on your use case).

First up, my use case. My R1T is my adventure vehicle, it permanently carries all my MTB, Hiking and Ski gear so that I'm ready to go at any point (seasonally dependent of course).

Because I'm often out of cell service range, and on long rides or ski days I can run out of phone battery, I opt to carry the Key Fob vs. PAAK and vs. the Key Card. I know I should get used to the Key Card, but for whatever reason I prefer the FOB.

However, I find myself constantly irritated at the FOB whose logic circuits seem counter-intuitive to mine namely, it constantly locks/unlocks when I'm either prepping for a ski/ride or when I'm back from a ski/ride and changing, loading gear etc, and more irritatingly, whenever I leave for my ski/ride, it seems to not want to lock. Very frustrating. In addition, when I want a fast unlock, I get to the truck and find myself waiting for a few seconds for the unlock to register.

So ... I figured I'd sacrifice a Key Card and give the CNICK Rivian Key a try.

I placed an order on 08/05, shipped one of my key-cards on 08/06 and received my "snow" ring for $139 on 09/19 ... so roughly 6 weeks between order and delivery.

The process was pretty seamless, as soon as you place your order you get a return label. I had an additional step being to order the recommended Amazon "ring sizer" template to get the correct ring size. The wait was slightly longer than expected, as I got a shipping confirmation around 09/02 but didn't get delivery till 09/19 which I guess (after reading this thread) was due to the international vendor location and shipping etc.

Day 1 impressions:

I had errands to run today, 5 stops in total with 10 entry/exits or lock/unlocks and here are my takes.

1. It takes a little time to get used to the ring and where to place it around the door handle. The "knuckle" approach shown on the vendor web-site doesn't work that well for me, maybe because of where the reader is embedded in the ring, I'm not sure, but I've slowly gotten used to it and if the knuckle approach doesn't work instantly, I just rotate my hand to have the ring closer to the handle and it unlocks (or locks) very seamlessly. I'm almost at first try every time. My experience against the Key Card is similar, i.e., placement is key and sometimes you have to shift it around. My experience against the PAAK is similar to the FOB. Scores:

Ring 1 : Fob 0
Ring 1 : Key Card 1
Ring 1 : PAAK 0

2. I haven't had to use the ring inside the vehicle yet. So can't score this as yet, but I suspect the Ring will not perform as well as the FOB nor PAAK once inside the vehicle.

Ring "tbd" : Fob "tbd"
Ring "tbd" : Key Card "tbd"
Ring "tbd" : PAAK "tbd"

3. Other functionality, e.g., opening tailgate, unlocking vehicle from a distance, opening hood, etc. This is an interesting analysis, as I think the Ring underperforms the FOB and PAAK for this metric, with the PAAK only marginally getting a better score simply because if your are going down the PAAK route, you are already tuned into using your phone (or the vehicle) for other functions. I have access to those functions anyway via my phone (just not as a PAAK), so I marginally scored this one.

Ring 0 : Fob 1
Ring 0 : Key Card 0
Ring 0 : PAAK 1/2

4. Other observations.

Hand placement is interesting. I tried the ring on my left hand, but I (generally) use my left hand to open the driver door, and I found that once I unlocked the vehicle and then when I shifted my left hand to lever open the handle, the car would lock on me. So I now wear the ring on my right hand and use the left to open as normal.

Vehicle sleep vs. wake behavior. I noticed that when the vehicle is awake, it's very quick to lock and unlock, but when it goes to sleep I have to wait a few seconds.

So all in all, if you want to primarily use the Ring for lock/unlock as your primary use case to avoid unintentional lock/unlocks, I recommend this highly. So far I'm happy with the purchase as I no longer carry the FOB, but I do carry my Phone as backup, and best of all I'm now back in control of my vehicle unlock and locking behaviors given my use case.

Happy to answer any questions!

Additional data points...

I've not used my keyfob since day #2 of my 13-month ownership. Feel like a ludite carrying a bulky fob in 2024. My phone has been the primary key. I also carried a keycard in my wallet as a backup, still do—and I've yet to encounter any situations where a backup is needed. As you all know, our R1s broadcast the unlock state prominently, especially when the compass puddle light is enabled. It's like the bat signal, except it screams "come steal". For this reason I have proximity at home set to off.

The ring allows me to unlock and depart from home without having to fish out my phone, unlock after a swipe and a tap (via widget on a secondary home screen). I typically open my door with my left hand, so with ring on that hand, all I do now is present my hand (and ring) at or near the door handle, wait a few seconds for vehicle to wake and unlock, enter and be on my way. No risk of handling/fumbling my phone. Since I tend to have my phone on me, haven't tested the ring's ability to let me drive. If it's good enough to unlock, I have no doubt about driving with just the ring. Locking is just as easy. Hold ring near handle for a few seconds and done.

So far, the ring has proved to be a good improvement. Had I skipped the ring and gone with that third party Watch As Key app, it wouldn't be as convenient—since I have proximity at home set to off, would have required a few taps to unlock, which is not an improvement over the phone—and battery consumption of my Watch Ultra would have worsened. The app might be better for some. But, for how I use my R1T—proximity off at home—the ring's been great.

This would be useful at home since I have proximity off at home to limit VD.

Outside of the house I have proximity on and it finds my phone usually without issue.

Do people just order any of the rings even though it only says for Tesla?

Options are more limited for Rivian customers: https://card2ring.com/

I asked them why and the answer they gave me was:
"Please note that wooden rings are not available due to their lower durability and the special care they require. In the event of visual damage, replacing a wooden ring could risk breaking the chip."

Safe to assume people buying the ring don’t use Apple Watch? I was about to order a ring before Waak came out, but now don’t see the point.

I see you missed my post. The watch app offers no more usefulness than Rivian's phone app, IF proximity is disabled. Some of us prefer to have proximity off when at home, to avoid unintentional unlocking and waking.

The watch app will offer touchless unlock, only if proximity is set to on, regardless of location. Otherwise, you have to open the app and tap the necessary buttons to wake and unlock; just like you would on the phone.

The ring works just like a keycard, because it contains the guts of one. Not at all dependent on proximity settings, because it is RFID (near field) not Bluetooth (greater range).

“I see you missed my post” is a weird flex…

I only use PAAK (like most people). So now that WAAK is an option, the ring’s utility seems very limited.

You're still missing the point. Different solutions for different needs.

I just received a bracelet from Cnick the other day. Took right about 4 weeks from shipping my key to receiving the bracelet. So far it has been great. Works flawlessly to unlock and start the truck. I do think I ordered one size too big, but that is a simple enough fix if it keeps bothering me. Been great for beach days.

10/10 would recommend
