I knew this difference, which is why I had waited a bit before ordering (but I didn't want to wait too long to avoid getting a flat without a spare)
I had ordered my spare tire kit a few weeks back and a mobile service tech arrived today to deliver it. I assumed I'd be getting the newer kit but ended up getting the older one. When I asked the tech why, he didn't know. I called customer service, who then called the service center and they indicated they are delivering them with whatever they have in stock. Just keep this in mind if you ordered or thinking about ordering. If I had known, I would have waited even longer to order. Or I should have asked first if they have the newer kits.
I would have preferred getting the newer kit because it seems better. It comes with wheel chocks, which the older kit does not. And the jack puck is integrated directly into the jack instead of as a separate piece. To me that makes the whole setup more stable and safe.

I have the spare kit but is like to know if it’s possible to change a tire yourself with the high torque requirement on the lug nuts. yup, thats the new kit.I just had my spare kit installed.
Made a service appointment 2 weeks ago (for lower door trim seal replacement) with Costa Mesa service. While on the phone, I asked them about ordering a spare. They told me the tech would bring one out with him (mobile service).
I think this is the new stuff?
