I'd love to see some pics (both close-up and profile of the whole truck) of the 21's both with and without covers (same angles so I can see them side-by-side).

Interesting to see the photoshops. But personally I don't care for any of them.

The 20's or 22's seem like the better purchase, imo.

i haven't seen anyone on this forum with the AT Brights or Darks. Wonder if there's an issue or everyone just loves the staple looking ones?

I definitely like the look of 20's better. Especially I saw the one bellow in person and loved it. It would go perfectly with El Cap but 15% penalty could be the difference between having to stop at a DC fast charger or dirrectly going to my destination for one of my regular trips. Which is why I am trying to make the 21's work. By the time my number is called, there will be more reviews of real world difference and I may end up with 20's. We will see.

Totally not the point of the thread, and I don't have mine yet, but I'm so excited to not have to drive to Irvine or L.A. for service.

Was bored. Trying to see if 21s could look better if I paint parts of it. Which one looks better?
I think part of the problem with those is that it looks like the aero inserts are included in your designs, making the wheels overly chunky. It seems like the 21s, in black, without the aero inserts may be decent and then you can just add the inserts when you absolutely need the range. The range loss from not using the inserts should still beat the 20s.

What is a realistic estimated price to paint or powder coat the 21s black? Is that worth doing?
Roughly ~$1k, probably in the 3 digit area, but wouldn't be surprised if it's much more nowadays.

Thank you, very helpful. The all terrain look super cool, but I do not think I will ever take mine off road. I don't have any mountains where I live and the truck is too beautiful to get muddy. I am going to stick to the 21 inch road wheels to maximize traction for acceleration and rain and tread life.

If I lived in Colorado though,....all terrain

This great thread led me to take a look at the TireRack.com customer reviews for the Pirelli OEM tires Rivian is putting on the 20 and 22 wheels. Those tire reviews reinforced my plan to choose the 20 AT wheels for my R1S that will be driven in New England.

Man, I love the look of the bright 22's but is it just me or does it look like there is barely any tread on those bad boys relative to the 20's and 21's?

I'm wondering if I would get more than 20K off of he 22's before they had to get swapped out.

To the original poster - thank you for a very helpful thread.

OK, upon closer inspection:

20"s: 640 Treadwear Rating: A Traction Rating
21's: 600 Treadwear Rating: A Traction Rating
22's: 500 Treadwear Rating: A Traction Rating

Not surprising that the 20's have the highest treadwear rating of 640, but very surprised that they share the same A (and not AA) rating with the 22's.

The 22's having a 500 rating is surprising and maybe they won't wear as quickly as I feared.
