I think things you hear may be exaggerated or out of the norm. I do not think the average appointment is 2 months out.

I’m in SoCal, the last time I rotated my tires I saw some grease on the inside of my rim and on the lower control arm. I requested an appointment through the app, it scheduled me a mobile appointment 3 days out, then I got a call to bring it into the service center, the schedule was a week out from my initial service request.

I would think SoCal is a pretty busy area as I see a lot of Rivians on the roads here.
I am sure that there are SC's and periods of lower load. It also depends what is the work that needed to be done

I absolutely agree. However, you stated that this was fact, not opinion.
I just repeated what I heard. Obviously, I have no access to the Rivian internal data to support this claim.

Said that 5 times. I needed an appointment, application showed 2 months+.

What can also be the case, that the application gives the lowest priority to any request, and then SC evaluates it and moves it if needed. Just a guess.

Fair enough, and thank you for clarifying.
As I said before, this is conjecture.

As a side remark, I wish Rivian would come with an extended warranty - I really want to hold this truck above the warranty period.

I’ll have mine well past the Warrenty period.

I have a Tesla that is 9 years old, I’ve had 2 repairs after Warrenty, a rear window regulator for $400, and center screen replaced, $1100. That $1500 would not have covered the registration for a new car had I traded it in after the Warrenty expired. Probably was less money than an extended Warrenty would have been as well.

If something goes wrong it could be expensive but factoring in higher registration and insurance, not to mention the cost of actually purchasing a new car, makes not being in Warrenty very hard to justify as a reason for me to get rid of a vehicle that I’m happy with and runs great.

IDK of another car with as much suspension articulation. The extra capability might be the issue.
All I can compare it to is my raptor. And that suspension is badass and reliable. Not cheap either though

The Raptor has no articulation, right? Can't you lower it into sport mode? I'm not sure how it works on a Raptor.

The only way I was going to keep my Rivian (now at 56,500 miles) was with an extended warranty — repairs can be insanely expensive. I chose Xcare about a month ago, and now I feel completely at ease keeping it through 113,000 miles when coverage ends. It wasn’t cheap, but just one air suspension replacement would nearly pay for itself.

Maybe articulation isn’t the word I was looking for. Can you set the suspension heights?
Oh. No. But you can change the behavior. Sport will stiffen which was awesome in the twisty mountain drives. And a few off-road modes. It was on 37 inch tires from the factory so clearance was never an issue. Loved that truck. Just didn’t want to dedicate it to a road tripper/family hauler, hence the R1S purchase

I still can not get why they need a second factory. With current level of demand they can produce both R1T and R2 in Normal and save a lot of money.
Because is order to make money (be profitable) they need to scale the R2 to 500k+ units per year, which Normal cannot accommodate.

Make sense. But if they will wait for Georgia plant to be build and scale to 500k cars they will be out of money by then...
