I'm curious to hear what options people have used with roof top cargo carriers or roof top tents to reduce wind noise. I'm cautious about any of the options that make contact with the roof given the examples of the glass roof shattering. I added the roof platform from C6 Outdoors to carry the tent on top of the R1T. I like everything about it except the horrible amounts of wind noise when it is is up there. So if others have proven options I'd like to hear from those people. I'd also prefer something that bolts to the rails of the rack vs clamping the crossbars if possible. So please if you have a setup like this share the details and pictures if available.

I use the Yakima SkinnyWarrior cargo basket on top of my RT1 roof crossbars occasionally. It does have a wind fairing but still creates a bit of a whistle noise at higher speeds.

I appreciate the alternative rack systems, however the C6 platform I have is dimensioned specifically for the tent and has bolt downs to attach the tent to it. So I'm hoping to find something that will work with it. Those setups look nice.

My rack was far enough forward that the rubber is in front of the roof glass. I would not recommend having anything on the glass.
Any pictures? I'm assuming then it rests on the front window frame? Or it doesn't make contact with anything?

@FooF Thank you again this is really helpful. Can't wait for mine to arrive and test out the noise reduction.

Found another Rivian post that recommended Rhino Rack Vortex generating strips to plug the crossbar grooves. Seemed to fix the whistle for their ski racks. I think I’ll try these first.

I have the C6 roof rack platform as well. Please post an update of your findings!
It solved the wind noise issue. However, I should clarify that I'm not using the whole rack since I don't plan to sleep on top of the vehicle just transport it up there. So I'm only using half of the C6 platform.
