I'll be taking delivery of a new 2024 R1T soon and have a shore diving trip planned where I'd like to be able to take the truck. In the past what I've done with an ICE truck was to use a hitch safe to hold the key, or with a vehicle that had an ordinary lock on the door to make a dumb key and go diving with that on me while the actual key was hidden inside the car. The dumb key is not an option, and I'm unsure if the hitch safe is either due to the small space inside it or the proximity.
I can't take my phone, or presumably the fob, on the dive as neither would survive for long submerged in salt water. I still have the hitch safe, which can be installed in any common receiver hitch. That doesn't have a lot of room inside it though, and I'm not sure if the fob would fit - or if it did would that do any good since the fob would likely be in range.
My hitch safe is this,
What do you guys do if you can't take your phone or fob with you and need to secure your Rivian?
