I took my R1S into the Phoenix Service Center on July 24th. After some unexpected issues it was ready August 25th.
I picked it up yesterday as I was out of the country until the 5th. There is a lot of in between to explain but ultimately they fixed all the issues (and then some) and I had an R1T loaner so I am pleased.
Here are the details:
The main issues I first reported were the driver side passenger door trim was coming unlaminated, the center speaker rattled and at highway speeds the passenger front window/door was very loud so likely not sealed. I was told these would take only a day or two by the assistant on the service number (not someone at the service center).
Once in they got to work but only after it sat for a week, I believe (I was tracking it and the mileage and use was not changing on the app). They also decided to replace the passenger side rear door trim too as it was beginning to have a similar issue to the driver side.
The car was nearly ready after another week but in the lot they moved it and scratched the vehicle. Doh! The sent pictures and apologized and then set about getting it into a local body shop, which took an additional 2+ weeks. They also had to repair the PPF from the slight fender bender.
When I finally picked it up, everything was fixed and as good as new. I'd swear it drove even better but perhaps that is how bad the noise was coming from the passenger door.
My take away was that the service centers are going to be really overloaded in the coming years fixing some of the not so unexpected flaws in the relatively new cars. It was also clear that the phone service assistant does not have a good read on the pressures at the Service Center. So, when you drop off your vehicle get the contact of the manager so you can stay in touch with the status of the repair.
