Shipping a Rivian overseas?

Curious to know if anyone has shipped their rivian overseas?

I'll be retiring in 3-5 years and been thinking of shipping my R1S to the Dominican Republic. I'm currently still gathering numbers regarding their import taxes and fees. The other thing that came to mind would be service, since there isnt a service center, and the closest one i would be in florida.

There is a small community of tesla owners so somehow they've been managing, and recently my wife came across of tiktok video of the supposed "first R1T in the dominican republic"

Another thing to keep in mind is that there will be no data connectivity. Without data, you lose spotify/tunein, and maps are significantly degraded. Also you can't use the app to lock/unlock or remotely activate the climate control.

It is not possible to change the SIM and wifi is disabled when driving (and when the vehicle is sleeping) so you can't tether it to your phone as a workaround.

i was able to locate several youtube videos(in spanish) about the R1T that was shipped there. From the video it does look like the vehicle has data and the passenger is also able to use the hotspot, even has gps support. ive sent them an email so waiting for a response

Depends on how old the video was. There was a post a few months ago about Rivian cracking down on roaming data.

There must be a way to retrieve the IMEI and plug it into IMEIcheck.com Maybe it's unlocked as an esim. If it's a physical sim, then some digging under the dash board is needed.

No lo hagas ! es una locura. El vehiculo es bonito, es rapido, es moderno, pero NO es el mejor. UNa mercedez, una land rover, un bwm, estan muy por encima.
Si llegaras a tener un solo problema serio que en Miami podrias resolver facil, a ti te costaria miles de dolares y mucho tiempo el vehiculo parado......

Otra cosa mas, Rivian no quiere bajo ningun punto de vista dar soporte internacional. Para que te des una idea me ah costado una semana de llamadas telefonicas convencerlos de que me activen una llave nueva que compre online.
