Edit: One thing I thought was odd was that when I spoke to XM customer service they told me it should be connecting via "built in satellite reciever for the Rivian". When I spoke to Rivian customer service they implied that it uses wifi. However, folks on Reddit have said that it uses the LTE connection, so not sure which is correct.
Following that, if you have to use wifi to connect to Sirius XM beyond your driveway, what network are you connecting to? Are you connecting to your Rivian Wifi? Whenever I do that it knocks Alexa offline for some reason. Any ideas with that... is this a service call?
Keep in mind you're speaking with folks in Call Centers who know next to nothing technical and are just following troubleshooting scripts.

Rivians don't have sat radio hardware. So, streaming is via cellular when mobile. If you happen to be stationary and the Rivian is connected to your home SSID or another SSID streaming can work via that connection.

2 yrs and 10 months in - Still smitten with the truck, love the company, like the SiriusXM app while I've been using it on trial.

Sounds like from this thread that the net situation is that each Rivian vehicle must have its own streaming sub whether net new, added to existing account or transferred. Looks like smattering of folks have gotten reuse to work and streaming-only sub might be common thread? As others have pointed out, not allowing reuse is different than every other streaming service offered in Rivians. If that's correct, so be it though I do worry about subscription creep adding up.

SXM recently offered me new option for Sat+Streaming for my other vehicles - not all their content but everything I want and more with options for the other stuff. I felt the new sub is very attractive and they claim I won't have to do the yearly renegotiation with them now as I had for the last 10+ years.

While $5 a month isn't horrible (I'll skip a bougie coffee a month) I feel like there should be a permanent option for that kind of pricing as there is for Sat+Stream now. I definitely don't want to be cast back into the yearly dance routine for my Rivian streaming-only sub to avoid $20 a month auto-renewal after the first year as is shown in T+Cs. Maybe I can get that with some kind conversations with CS.

I've spent a bit of time with SXM on this and I think they're as confused as we are.

I was able to log in using my account username and password, but it wants me to subscribe. I'm not sure why I would do that when I can use my phone and play through Bluetooth!

Thank you
Ron
Wondering the same thing. Seems silly to pay $5.00 per month when bluetooth steaming seems to work ok. I have Verizon unlimited data in my phone, so no issues.
