I noticed walking up to my R1T the other day how much the bumper tucks up under the tailgate (better departure angle and/or just for looks?). It’s a big difference from the average 1/2 ton pickup with a squarish bumper. My theory is that a F-150 might take this damage on the bumper alone.It must be an epidemic! This happened to me recently...apparently the rear corners are like magnets for other vehicles.
The worst part of your incident is the rental car you’re going to be stuck with for the next 6-12 weeks. :-(

You're probably right about the bumper being tucked up tight to the truck limiting protection. Price of design I guess...
