I’ve run into a few times now with my a2z NACS adapter that a Tesla station limits the power to my truck. Checking the adapter it is pretty warm, but so is the Tesla handle and cable. Anyone else running into this too?

I have seen it with my Rivian and Hummer in 110 temps, starts out 190 then quickly drops to 110-120kw. Both trucks show limited by charger.

For me, the Tesla connector and the adapter were not really hot. I think the power supplies are limiting the rates.

Yes, when it’s pretty warm out or in direct sun. I did have one in Nashville recently that gave me that message and moved over to a different charger and it was fine.

I have experienced this, as well. It would start out over 200kw, then, in short order, reduce the speed dramatically. I thought it might be a heat related issue, as it was over 90 degrees out and in direct sunlight.

I believe it’s the charger. Several days ago I used a Tesla Supercharger with the Magic Dock; so Tesla’s built in adapter. Started out just under 200 kw. Within about 7-8 minutes it had dropped down below 130 kw stating that it was being limited by the charger. Stayed there about 30 minutes until I reached 80% SoC when it dropped down into the 50+ kw.

Well, the adapter is a contributor. It's basically an inline resistor in the circuit and just generates heat as electrical current goes through it. So it's heating up the charging handle faster than if there was no adapter. With it being summer, it's just hot outside and the cable cooling system in the dispenser can't handle the heat generated.
