Texting UI on the R2?

Does anybody have a video of what the texting is like on the new R2 UI? How good is the voice texting, and does it display the actual text or does it just read it out to you?

Yes this is the important question. One of my big surprises with my Tesla was how terrible it is with group messaging.

Group messaging is a big reason many of us yap about CarPlay. It's such a simple, and common use case, and it's never implemented in any native systems.

Cool video, but nothing in that about texting or group messaging. that has been a huge pain with my tesla.

I am really liking all the features on this, and its not a deal breaker for me, but man, they need to figure that out.

I guess I linked wrong one. There is another with text messaging example, via voice assistant. It's powered by Google. So if you're able to create group texts on an android phone today, you should be able to do the same in a Rivian in the future.

Hah. CX-30's infotainment is about a decade behind the curve. That's why it has CarPlay to supplement it. New CX-5 has Google AI built-in. A big step forward for the brand, but not on sale yet at dealers.

Here's a tiny bit on it. There's not been a full demo of texting/comms yet that I've seen. Starting about 8:50

I get the ask for Rivian to incorporate some sort of texting app, but honestly, I already have that in my R1S and Siri. I just ask Siri to text a person or group, say what I need to say and it’s off. And receiving a message is just as simple as asking Siri to read my messages. It all works thru the Rivian audio and it’s hands free.
Am I missing something here?

The issue I have with my tesla is, I can receive group texts, but if you reply, it only goes to that one person. It doesn't send it to the group. it separates everything out as individuals. so if you have a group text going, and then a one on one, you can't tell the difference. its quite annoying. once I realize its a group message, I just don't reply at all while I am in the car.
