Okay, let’s talk statistics.

if they studied “1.6 million cars” but broke them into brand or model then did a percentage then it is not weighted. For example. If 50% of Ferraris are yellow and they hold their value more than a ford. Then the Ferrari will throw the average. I don’t completely buy in the color matters this much.

I could elaborate further but really let’s talk ford yellow to ford gray and Ferrari yellow to Ferrari gray. Then see if the data changes.

A lot depends on the make/model. As you mentioned about Ferrari, I'm pretty sure most people would prefer a red Ferrari as compared to any other colors mentioned above it. When you think Ferrari, one immediately associates Red with it.
