They're making a push to drive sales into double digits:

https://carbuzz.com/lucid-gravity-first-half-sales/

(And I know the "only nine sold" report has been debunked, but not by much).
I am very much the monkey that this kind of marketing works on. I kind of love it. I hope it makes it to production and doesn't take too much of a range hit in this form.

As for the sales, based on my occasional perusing of the Lucid forum, just sounds like one BS article took off and everyone else copied and pasted. They have sold way more than that, but are still way behind on deliveries. I don't know why people are so desperate for EV companies to flop. What ever happened to the "competition is good" spirit?

Why does this remind me of the Fisker Ocean Force E?

TBF, there is a pretty deep reservation list on the Gravity. The low sales numbers are not due to lack of buyers, but internal production delays.

I don’t think the reservation list is that deep and there are tons of cancellations. I live in one of the most EV dense areas outside of NorCal and maybe Seattle - but even here Lucid’s are still rare. The styling is just too new age Buick/Oldsmobile

I originally was going to get a Gravity myself until it became clear that it was going to be delivered a year late and that lease rates were going to be insane.

This is why I wouldn’t buy a Lucid right now. Yea the Saudis have deep pockets, but even they will get tired of supporting a car company that can’t make cars. Rivian launched 3 vehicles at once, and makes a mix of 50k vehicles a year. Not huge numbers, but a whole different league than less than a thousand in a half a year.

To be honest I was half expecting Rivian to be like this when I had my preorder reservation. I’m glad they were not like this, and I got my first Rivian in 3rd quarter ā€˜22. If you’re struggling to make cars at this low of volume you aren’t going to ramp up to a volume high enough to be profitable.

There is a few hundred members in the Lucid Owners Forum on the Gravity wait list. Generally forum members only represent a small subset of overall owners.

But still, overall point was that the low Gravity sales numbers are not due to lack of demand at this point.

Okay. I’m not denying that - I’m actually saying that even if that even if that few hundred is a subset, you are still only talking about maybe 2-3,000 ā€œwaitlistā€ orders on a product that is delivering a year+ behind schedule. Thats simply not a lot and a lot of those won’t convert - you can tell because on those same forums there are a surprising number of people reporting calls about orphaned orders and like you said - that’s just a subset.

If they had a huge backlog of orders they would have said so on their earnings call - which was entirely bad news.
