How was the communication from Rivian? Did you expect to wait for years or check every day for an update?

I waited 1.5 years and even back then in the time of guides I heard nothing. I think I got one email from my guide after I had already confirmed delivery with my service center lol. Just read the articles here on the purchase steps and be ready yours is coming soon I am sure.

Nop, just wondering how you're all dealing with the anxiety and the wait when there's no word from the company about something you paid for. There should be better communication on their part.

I ordered in early 2021 waited 2.5 years, and had somewhat regular emails or messages from Rivian the entire time.

I had also had day one orders in with Ford and Chevrolet. Both were MUCH worse than Rivian. I went for over a 15 months without hearing a peep from either of them.

Yes - Rivian's communication could be better, but many of us have been down the road and come out thrilled at the end!

How are you all keeping your cool? I ordered my R1S on June 6. Not a word since beside the reservation confirmation. Sales Rep can't say anything either. Delivery schedule is August - September, how are there no updates to manage expectations? Already seeing similar configs in the shop, which makes it even worse - they're building for the shop but not the custom orders? It would be awesome to get updates about when your car is scheduled to be built etc.

You really should talk to people who reserved in November 2018 and then...
- saw their prices increased
- told they couldn't have a powered tonneau cover
- told they couldn't have any of their accessories and options in their config
- told they couldn't make their config a max pack and quad (take a quad-large or wait even longer for a dual-max)
- etc., etc., etc...

And didn't take delivery until well after winter of '21.

Puhhleeease.

^ Rivian comms have historically been terrible, it's probably the #2 most complained about issue right behind #1 terribly long Service Center wait times for non-critical items.

I think I ordered my Jeep around July 2018, and the next time the dealer called me with an update was when it arrived in October 2018. I ordered my R1T and a Cadillac Lyriq within a couple weeks of each other in Sep 2021, got the R1T in Nov 2022. Got a call from the Cadillac dealer around July 2023 (I declined it).

Vehicle orders built to a customers specifications take time. It isn't the same as grocery shopping.
