Things to check when picking up R1T from private sale

Hello folks,

Excited to pick up my R1T tomorrow, things look legit so far so I expect the DMV trip tomorrow for title verification is just for my piece of mind.

Any suggestion on things to check for when takingover the truck, it's literally brand new: 79 miles, quad-motor & adventure pack.

I'm newbie so I apologize if this question has been answered before: From the VIN decoder I found on this forum, "AAA" after "7FCTG" in VIN means it has quad-motor and adventure pack. Beside this, is there any screen on the dashboard showing these? I didn't have much time to play with the software when checking out the truck.

Congratulations!

The quad motor and large pack are the only motor/battery configs shipping at this time. The only ”editions” are Adventure and Launch (aka LE). Aside from the color (which you can see), interior (same), and wheels (yay same!), you have factory build options for the underbody shield and spare tire kit.

Google the underbody to see if it has it. As far as spare tire, pop open the tailgate and lift the handle on the left on the bed to open the spare hole. If there’s a tire in there with a hold-down and other gear, you have the kit.

Otherwise, it’s accessories like racks. Which, again, you’ll be able to see if the seller has them mounted. Make sure you get the keys if any racks are included!

Look over the list for sure. If there are any body/paint issues, it’s 50/50 whether they’ll be fixed by the service center since you’re not the first owner. But they’ll probably honor things like body panel misalignments. Anything else is like any other new car warranty transfer.

BUT - know that if you do find something, you’re likely 2-3 months out for an appt to get it fixed.

This truck was delivered in late last December, VIN 14XXX, can we tell if it comes with a spare tire or undershield? The seller didn't mention it (he probably doesn't know) when we exchanged words, I was in a hurry so only had time to check the mileage on odometer and the paint/alignments, which look great (apparently the seller had SC fixed some alignments issue before listing for sales).

He babies the truck and keeps it in garage, no test drive so that's all I can check

Have the seller send you a picture of the window sticker (we all got these stuffed in the storage under the rear seat) or a copy of his sales contract (with personal info redacted). And visually inspect it per advice above. and ask the seller - they will know.

If the seller is unwilling to do any of those things then i would be personally be concerned.

My seller's title is a Commercial one, but his name is the only one listed in the title, so that means he alone can sign the title over to me, correct?

The address in his title matches his DL's address too.
