I have a mobile paint guy that is awesome. My last truck had a few scrapes from offroading. He took out a big dent (damn boulder), painted one bedside, the front bumper and a new grill surround for $700. He matched the paint perfectly. I will go this route if I get some scrapes. I have had to pop/pull a dent on a neighbor's car. I am curious, if it had a wrap would I have been able to do it? I don't think so.

Everybody mentions the cost of the vehicle. I have more $ into my Cummins than my R1T. It didn't get a wrap either and it is fine.

Getting PPF or any other treatment to protect your car or not is a personal decision. To each his own.

It took me a while to warm up to the idea of getting PPF installed. I have a few vehicles done now. In one case, I was driving and some sort of metal bracket got kicked up and hit the front bumper. The scratches were pretty deep but the repair was done in a day for $500. My other car is going on 6 years with a full front PPF install and looks pretty much perfect. On the other hand, I have a RAM 1500 that I've had for three years and it has held up well without PPF. For me it's definitely something to consider for all vehicles on a case by case basis.

I understand the appeal. But $10k for full body ppf and ceramic which is just about the average quote in socal is so much money to spend on an already very expensive car. I think it’s going to be impossible to keep a “adventure vehicle” completely free of wear and battle scars. When I see jeeps with some scratches I don’t cringe I just figure, oh they must off road.

That said, I do plan to do a full font ppf because my previous cars have been completely torn up by rock chips and with the quite flat design of the R1 I can see that looking quite bad over time. Full body for me just doesn’t make sense since it’s a at least $6k up charge vs front ppf and ceramic. If you have the $ to burn though that’s great. I’d just say if you believe in Rivian as a company, investing $6k in the stock might yield you many multiples $, which that ppf around the car won’t do.

Sorry that happened though! Glad the pup owner was willing to cover the cost for repair.
I got an email from a Rivian authorized Xpel installer. For full body & ceramic it's $5300. Just took it in today.
if you didn't get an email, maybe contact Customer Service and see if they have an installer in your area that offers Rivian discounts.

they also do the full front for $1500, but the ceramic is $1300. the deal with the full body is you get the ceramic for $800.

If no people were in the vicinity, then there's zero doubt I would have hit the gas to escape. Sorry, but control your dog.
Wow. That’s pretty harsh. Yes, the owners should have maintained better control over their dog, but don’t punish the animal for that.

I'm not saying I think $10k is a "good" price, just saying there ARE legit reasons PPF != vinyl - they are NOT interchangeable as far as "protection"
Well said. This is what I learned when I inquired about wrapping my current vehicle, vs. PPF film.

Thank you for that insight. I never said it wasn't. And I provided the reasons for my decision for not getting it.
