Been Trading RIVN all the way down the long descent…but I’m now jumping On board for a run up…(hopefully).

When the market cap is essentially the book value and below the enterprise value, like Rivian is currently, doesn't take any insight to say its worth more than the current - as long as the company is in the growth mode.

At $16/share, market cap is $14.5B, essentially their cash on hand as of the last quarter (I know they've spent since but they are also in conserve mode currently), and their Plants, Properties and Equipment puts them above the market cap.

Just need to show results and show progress then the price will gain some momentum.

Yeah, normally when companies have a market cap near their asset value, they become a target for hostile takeovers and activist investors forcing board seats and leadership shakeups. Either would benefit the stock price, neither would benefit the long-term roadmap. So I hope that doesn't happen.

I don't think that can happen with RIVN. If I remember right, common shares have restricted voting rights. I believe the pre-IPO stocks may be in a different position.

I'm certainly no expert, but my guess is that it will be several years before we see the share price get past, say, $50.

For those who purchased and held at the IPO, good luck.

For those who purchased at $170, you're gonna need more than good luck.

If it keeps bouncing off or near book and RIVN needs more liquidity say mid-late 2024, RJ might have few choices but to cede voting shares, control, and a few board seats.

When BP had the Deepwater spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. the stock price tanked to asset value. Made a bunch of money on that. Granted different sectors and different times.
I think that Musk shorted RIVN and is using his fame and personal platform to drive RIVN share price down and slashed prices of existing inventory to artificially increase sales number making Rivian look worse. 6 months from now we will have all forgotten about the price per vehicle was slashed and Elon will be on twitter toughting how strong sales are.

Motley Fool recommendations are just as bad as listening to Cramer. Rivian needs to do something big for the stock to rebound. I accepted my losses and sold a while ago.

I went the other direction, bought more during the dips to average down my cost, I think I’m low enough to turn positive sometime next year.

When I first bought in it was in my mind a 5 year commitment so just under 4 years to go before I really start looking at it.
