Sidewall damage from a nasty curbing. Just discovered on the eve of a 200 mile drive with the family. Argh. What would you do?
Seems like the answer is pretty obvious…..you can’t drive on that except maybe around the corner to a tire shop…:

It's most definitely fatal, but is that really a bad thing?

It lets you practice your skills at controlling a vehicle during a blowout.

It's also a good marriage test and bladder control test as well.

:p

Well yeah, 21" are fine unless you need to replace one. Then, it really depends on where you are whether you can get one replaced the same day or whether you have to wait a week while the local shop gets one shipped in.

In this case, the OP needs a replacement before a trip the next day. That can only be done in certain locations, but not in most places.
Technically you don't need to replace a tire with the same tire (doesn't even need to be the same diameter; e.g. people drive with donut spares for hundreds of miles). Open diffs and independent motors means you won't cause any mechanical damage. Eventually you'll probably want a matching set for treadwear and aesthetic reasons though.
