Tire Rotation Schedule

Got my callback from Rivian service, they officially advise tire rotation at 6k miles.

It is not listed in the manual. They also stated they do not have any other recommended service schedule currently.

UPDATE: This recommendation is for the factory 22" sport tires; unclear if that is a specific recommendation to my config.

That’s interesting. I spoke to my Rivian service center manager on Friday and he communicated 9k miles for tire rotation. The next reccomended maintenance would be 50k but didn’t ask what the 50k service involved.

Maybe he was looking at his sticky-note upside down? 9k seems like a crazy-high rotation interval. Like what's even the point? I think the tires would be >50% worn at that point.

Not at this time. They had announced a partnership with Pep Boys, but that agreement has been dissolved, afaik. Last service advisor I spoke with said they were still looking for a third party partner for tire work and their only official recommendation, right now, is a Rivian Service Center.

Maybe...the Rivian Service guys in Michigan are looking at a different playbook than the service centers? Definitely doesn't look good on them to be giving different information.

In any case, I am having them add the rotation to my appt that is s00n to be scheduled for another issue (condensation drain leaking to cabin floor).

One thing I failed to ask on the call is if they will do a 5-tire rotation. I will confirm that when they call back to schedule. Anyone had experience with them doing a 5-tire rotation?

Replace the cabin air filter, top off headlight fluid.

The brake fluid should probably be tested and changed at some point before 50K as well.

Sport tires might need more frequent rotations since they aren't going to last as long.

The brake fluid should probably be tested and changed at some point before 50K as well.

Brake fluid goes bad with time, not really mileage. I'd replace it every 3 years in a normal vehicle. I do 2 year intervals on my motorcycles.

Yeah, watching the front brake reservoir turn from 'chardonnay' to 'espresso' due to the absorption of H20 was a great timer.

My brake fluid is a bit oakey with notes of raspberry and chocolate. Pairs well with soft cheeses and red meat.
