I bought a used R1T and the dealer agreed to find me 20in instead of the original 21in wheels. Leshwab did the swap and I asked them if they update those in the computer and they said yes.

The “About” page on the console still says 21in, and I checked with the Rivian SC. They ask me $120 to update the info in the computer.

do you think is needed and isn’t this too much for this? (Means for example you can’t run summer 20s for off-roading and winter tires on 21s, unless you shell out $240 a year).

Thoughts?

Hopefully it is software configurable in the future but right now the software doesn't handle this so the SC is the only option.

Is it needed, probably not. My truck is configured for the 21s and I have 20" Nitto Recon Grapplers (OEM 20" size) and the speedometer is more accurate than with the 21s. The biggest negative is your range estimates are going to be off by ~15%.

How long ago did you put the Nittos on there? Wondering if the computer eventually figures out that your range is considerably lower so the guess-o-meter adjusts (in the Energy page).

Also … what are you getting for range on the Nittos? See any difference over the OE tires (which, again, I’m sorry I can’t take off your hands)?

I've got about 4k miles so far on the tires (with the camper) and the computer still thinks I can go 315 miles on a full charge in AP. So at least it isn't changing quickly.

Honestly this is a tough question. Due to weight of my truck (~8k) and the aero impact from my camper I figure I am losing about 30% from stock 21 efficiency. My best guess is that is about 50/50 between the tires (at ~65psi) and the camper so I suspect there isn't much different from the stock 20s.

jjswan33 Really cool setup, can you share the details of what you have on?

Also an update, I drove for a while double-checking Waze speed and the car, and they seem to be matching (so I guess Leshwab got the core of it right). The Call center asked me to check the "graphics" in the car, and those still show 21in, but they seem to hint (with low confidence) that maybe the $120 are only needed if I care to have the right infographics, but that probably for range calculations and all, what Leshwab did was enough. (Who knows... I will try for a while and check range estimation).

Hey thanks. I have a build thread going over my build:

https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...-v2-w-pop-top-camper-shell-oru-designs.14099/

Regarding the speedo, by default the Rivian is off by 1-2 mph (reads faster than actual by gps). That is what I was saying earlier by getting the bigger tires you give those 1-2 miles back so it is actually more accurate relative to actual. So the bigger difference will be range calculations, if you truck says you can go 300+ miles in AP then its not calibrated. I highly doubt the Les Schwab guys have access to any configuration in the Rivian computer.

Got it... I will try a full charge, but I think that is the case as at 85% was reading 275 in AP

FYI you don’t need to full charge. Go to the ⚡ menu and it has a box that says “Range based on” and if you click that it will tell you your estimated full range in Conserve, All Purpose or Sport.

UPDATE : I will go for it as it seems worth it, and the final bill is $60 not $120.

Yup, still says 21in. So Leshwab didn't do it (enough for the rivian to be happy). The final bill is $60 and I scheduled it for next week.

BTW from more testing it seems that speedo is actually spot on (as mentioned by others above), range estimates and distance though are off (locally consistent but off from reality).
