My tonneau cover recently stopped closing properly. The cover opens as usual, that is, jerkily, with a lot of noise, and both stows and stops properly. It no longer closes over the bed correctly however, cycling to the end of the track, stopping momentarily, then moving forward a few inches before coming to full stop. This of course leaves a gap of perhaps 6 inches or so over the bed. This is the case whether or not the tailgate is in place. It is a second generation cover, installed about 7 months ago.

Is this something I can reset, or do I have to have service take a look?

Hi, have similar experience with mine. Had it recalibrated at the SC today and it's great now, no more gaps. Was advised to dry lube the tracks.

Thanks. I looked through the manual and didn't see anything, so posted the question.

Regarding the lube, two Rivian techs, one at my local SC and the other mobile service, advised me not to use lubricant, though both also said something like like "it probably can't hurt though."

After almost three years and 52,000 miles, mine started acting up too. Similar to the functionality issue you are describing, and the service center fixed it with a recalibration.

That was three weeks ago, and it was damaged while at the service center, so it's been at the auto body shop ever since. I'm picking it up today, so I'll post again once I've had it back for a while and have a chance to ensure the recalibration is a long-term fix.

I recently brought my R1T to the SC for a checkup. My tonneau was also acting up. The manager of the SC said many are doing this due to a bug in the most recent software release. The SC needs to do a recalibration to fix the issue, but it's a quick fix.

. . . The manager of the SC said many are doing this due to a bug in the most recent software release.
That makes a lot of sense, particularly given that I only recently did the latest OTA update and my tonneau cover is closed 99.99% of the time.

I can live with the bug (I just stop the cover manually) until my next trip to the SC.

Interesting about the lube. Different techs saying different things.

I had used it before, but specifically dry-lube and no issues, at least not yet :)

This! Thanks. My tonneau (“repaired“ #3) had bound up and separated a month after getting fix (#2) back in December due to snow. The mechanic came by my house to fix it. He and i wailed on it and got working. I never noticed that it was closing 1” short and left 1 slat of the cover exposed. This fixed the whole thing. Thank you again.

I attempted this on my tonneau but it treats the final long-press as a manual engagement, and it stops as soon as I let go. I can't get it to automatically recalibrate.

It's really more like four very fast presses, and holding the last one.
