I tried my flashlight when I first got the truck 20 months ago - worked fine. A few days ago I actually needed it and pulled it out of the door - and it's completely dead. Anyone else have this issue? Resolution? I was wondering if it maybe just wasn't charging in the door but not sure how to test. It's not the end of the world, but they went through the trouble of including it so it would be nice if it actually worked when needed.

I had that. It was something to do with the charging contact in the door. Service center took care of it. I haven't tried it again in the 8 months since they fixed though....

IIRC, it now uses a common 3.6 volt 18650 Lithium cell. Remove the cell and check it with a voltmeter. That will at least tell you if the cell is charged which will eliminate any vehicle charging issues.

I too, had a charging issue with my torch a while back.

If you can get any light out of the torch - you can tell if charging works by leaving it on and putting it into the door. It turns off the lamp when charging initiates. Just a simple straightforward test.

I had this too. Mobile service came out and determined the torch wasn’t getting charged. They replaced both the torch and the charging component in the door, but honestly I think this was backyard mechanic mentality of just replace stuff as the new components were still a little “touchy” in getting the right position. They had to disassemble the drivers door to do it. Even though it was “touchy” initially, it has been working fine for several months now. I use it daily too. I’d put in a service ticket if under warranty. If not, I deduced this is probably a connection issue within the charging component And I would look to see if I could improve contact.

Now u made me take out and check mine out. It's working. Haven't removed it for at least 2.5+ years and it is still working.

As we're talking about the flashlight, I keep one of these in my kit in the car to turn my flashlight into a headlamp. I figure if I need a flashlight I may need both hands.

And yes - it works with the Rivian torch.
