I'd spend 3-4 days and drive it.

@beyondgravity, consider driving it yourself.

My wife and I managed 550-600 miles a day, with 12-15 hours a day on the road (including chargers at 50-216 kW) and 9-12 hours a night in hotels (usually with Level 2 chargers).

If I were driving solo, I'd probably budget about the same mileage per day, or a little less, with shorter "pit stops" for just one person but also allowing more time for resting.

Rivian's carbon footprint is probably less when you're driving it than it is sharing a truck. Nobody will care for your Rivian as you care for it. And you'll see our beautiful country all over again.

Nobody can promise a perfect outcome from any course of action, as you know -- but we were glad we made a "road trip" out of necessary travel.

Very best wishes!

I've shipped cars across the country a couple of times now, once open and once enclosed. My open carrier experience wasn’t awful but my car definitely picked up a lot of road dust and a weird nick on the paint, not terrible, but also not what you want on a brand new machine. The enclosed transport was pricier but my car arrived spotless. If you care a lot about keeping "mochi" looking perfect, it’s probably worth asking your company what an upgrade would cost. When I moved last year, I looked into all kinds of car transportation services before deciding. The amount of info and options surprised me and definitely made me feel better about leaving my car in someone else’s hands.

I need to move my R1S to LA area from NJ. My company is moving it through a company called - AutoRelocationPlus, Inc. i am planning to print the following and give it to them.

Have any of you done the transport with open car carrier and can you give me any input. So that I or they don’t screw up my mochi(r1s name)
I’d drive it or at a minimum ship it in an enclosed trailer. Preferably a one car trailer. Iā€˜ve done open trailer once. NEVER again. Enclosed car carrier, I freaked out as the driver drove it through the maze of ramps. Oil drips from car above stained my convertible roof. Best was a single car trailer with a driver who brought it directly to my home. Cost was about 25% more than enclosed car carrier. Worth it!

See if your company will let you drive it and charge mileage back. You'd get a road trip on them!
