I assume intervention is an emergency because it’s a several ton vehicle moving at speed and the “person” driving it suddenly gives up.

I see what you're missing here. I took over without the car giving up, every time. In fact my car never gave up. Intervention isn't immediately also "would have crashed."

The rest of your posts are based on that missing bit of info, so now you can backtrack to the beginning with that knowledge.
