This can be a big opportunity for Rivian. They need to focus on this and get ahead of the game. Sadly, this may mean a slower ramp up for R1T and R1S. It may also mean MAX Pack type batteries may go to commercial trucks first.

Not particularly. Just a group of companies (29 companies that expect to purchase 300k+ EV vehicles over the next five years) making suggestions (via a survey) about what they will need out of EV fleets, including sedans, SUVs, pickups, and box trucks. Also 250-300 miles of range. There is a desire for more accurate delivery timing and prioritization of the most frequently needed configurations. Finally, they also want the automakers to participate in build out of charging networks as well.

So they want the same thing the rest of us do.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I think it is significant that Amazon, large investor and customer of Rivian is basically putting out reference specifications to other manufactures for future orders. Another A.J. where are my trucks moment.

I had a different take on that. Seems like they are pushing manufacturers to accelerate development with specific specs To ensure they will meet the customer requirements. This may help escalate infrastructure and EV adoption as expectation is it will be hard for any single manufacturer to meet the near term demand. I did notice Stellantis, Mercedes, and Rivian was not on the list mentioned in the article. I assume this is because they are already developing and/or delivering these vehicles.

I had no idea that alliance existed and by the sound of the number of and names of the players they will probably be able to drive the development direction.

I believe Amazon, as a federal contractor, are trying to toe the line of fair and open completion and procurement.

Any contractor, especially a large contractor, must comply to federal acquisition practices so that its not a negative in the future contract pursuits.

Amazon has many ambitions including being a large logistics company, where the federal government is a significant piece of the puzzle, not to mention the recompete of JEDI contract for AWS.
