When you are cold your physical reflex is to shiver. Muscle contractions from shivering promote blood flow and generate heat to raise your body temperature so you can perform? Preconditioning routine is like that, as designed. So this morning started a 110 mile trip in my G1 Quad truck. 45% SOC, min min 10% SOC at arrival, battery temperature 23F, motor temps in 30F range. Nav calculated 1x 14 min stop at Tesla supercharger about 1h away. As soon as I hit "go", battery preconditioning message came on and with 1-2 min of driving motor temps skyrocketed! I've never seen this before, only have fast charged a handful of times, never in this cold ambient temps. I'm assuming it was trying to heat up the battery but I was uncomfortable with 200sF as I have never ever reached this high temps.
Is this normal?
