Unwanted zooming on navigation map

The recent improvements to the NAV system haven't fixed my biggest gripe: when I zoom out the map to the scale that I like it insists on scaling it back to some default every time I click on a charging icon and then dismiss it. I have to zoom back out again to see the next one that I'm considering. More generally, I want to specify the scale that *I* want and leave it that way while keeping the current location centered. I'm OK with the auto-zooming behavior but only as an OPTION.

I understand if the nav app thinks you're temporarily zooming in and it should reset to the default—that's a smart feature. The issue is there's no way to change the default zoom.

Are you swiping left to bring up the quick actions items (that pop up when go to Park), then accessing pet mode that way?

That takes a long time. Just hit your HVAC controls (hit the temp number) and pet mode (paw icon) is right there. Two taps. I do it all the time.
