Your first quote is false, and has been proven as such.
That was a typo, I just corrected it with an edit. That sentence was supposed to read "This has been known since before Gen 2 came out. Thanks for pointing that out, because that sentence didn't make any sense in the context of the rest of the post.

That’s kind of my point - if you are getting refundable tax credits then you probably aren’t in the income range where you should be considering a $5K upgrade to an $80K car. And if you pay enough taxes but are still getting a $5K refund then you need to adjust your withholding.

Average taxpayer doesn’t understand that their tax refund is due to them not properly adjusting withholding. Interest earned on that $5K free loan to the government could have paid the connect+ subscription fee for the year.
I get your point, and don't fully disagree. There are many reasons why you might be getting a larger return than you expected , getting married, divorced, having a kid, buying a house, student loan, started a business who knows.... Mostly its because people don't update their W4s. I purposely over pay my taxes (not by much) because I would rather a small refund than the risk of owing, i know its crazy thinking.

Very slow roll out. Only 14% out so far according to Rivian Roamer. :whew:
Pretty typical rollout. Looks like they follow a 4 day schedule now with Connect+ getting the first two days.

You are entirely correct, but I will still disagree with this post. The reason is that the average taxpayer cannot come up with 3-5K dollars to pay taxes should something happen and they owe. In that case, having your withholding high enough so that you're guaranteed money back is a hedge against being short.

The interest you'd receive on the average taxpayer's tax bill doesn't amount to much, and the risk of owing money isn't worth taking. If you own a Rivian, hopefully this isn't your situation.

Think it took like six days for me last time. As a connect + subscriber.

There are still issues with Rivians downloading the update. As in you are flagged for it but your vehicle has trouble downloading it.

And I’ll reiterate my point here… if you are so pressed for funds that you would rather err to give the government an interest free $5K loan than risk owing $1-2k then you definitely shouldn’t be considering a $5K vanity upgrade for an $80K+ car.

I’ve gladly written the government a penalty-free check 9 out of the last 10 years (exception was a year I both got married and switched jobs mid-year so paid FICA taxes twice). I’ll take the 4.25% interest on the funds for myself, pays for the full year of Connect+ and a few months of Spotify.

Trying and failing is different than intentionally deceiving buyers.
Exactly, this is where I see Rivian regarding the Gen 1 feature shortcomings. I might add "Optimistically trying ..."

I don't think it's ordered by when you subscribed otherwise I would be near the front.

Not every Connect+ subscribe has gotten the update yet.
