Hi - i know this is an older thread/reply but my Gen2 R1S has done the same thing with the recent 2024.51.01 update. Failed 3x at the same ~7%. They called saying I need to take it into the SC for them to diagnose - which may take several days. Sucks because the last update went perfectly - probably done within 25 mins.

Curious how long it took them to replace your communication module?
When I had a similar "fail to update" issue it was related to my 12v battery health. Do you have any warnings in that regard?

Is that a new tire design on the cartoon car on the phone? What battery/tire combo do you have?

Yeah, I believe they're all fairly backed up. Richmond has terrible communication, which was my primary issue. I was promised a 1 week turnaround and rearranged flights to/from a conference so I could drop off the day I left, then pick up when I landed in Richmond on the return and drive 3 hours home. To my surprise, it hadn't been touched when I got back.
They did provide me with another Rivian as a loaner, but only after I had to argue with them. Off my soapbox... Apparently I'm still bitter after 14 months ?

No other issues with any of the communication modules since then; knock on wood.
No, that’s absolutely valid to be upset about. I’ve heard that a lot. My buddy’s wife had her R1S in the shop for 3 months with limited communication.
Glad you haven’t had any issues since then though! Thanks for sharing your experience.

Dear lord I hope not. No, I haven’t had any warning signs regarding the 12V.
I just took delivery a little over a month ago although I know there are horror stories of others having their Gen2 brick with less than 1K miles.
Rivian Roamer has enhanced the owner dashboard view with a ton of vehicle data on the site now. It currently says my 12v is operating “normally”
I highly suggest everyone sign up if you don’t have an account and have a look.

Well, that doesn't make any sense that your vehicle is less than one month old and on software version 2024.03.02

That's from February last year.

Update History
It’s not, I’m on the previous version 2024.47.30. Installed totally fine last time. Rivian service mentioned something on the backend of my vehicle is blocking the recent OTA from downloading..who knows. I’m assuming it’s maybe the communication module.

Update 2/7: It appears the out of the blue update 2024.51.31 hotfix resolved my OTA update issue. Based on the notes, it seems my VIN was part of the "Fixed a rare issue which prevented software updates from fully downloading even in areas with good connectivity"....we survived another month of avoiding the service center!! LFG!
