Profile quirk seems to be mostly related to who gets to/into the car first in my experience.

Maybe something in your life changed that caused your behavior here to change. For me, it was that my wife needed assistance getting into the car, so I wasn't making it in first anymore.
That doesn't seem to matter when switching profiles for me. I've been seated in the driver's seat, belt buckled, and watching the profile as my wife gets in, only for it to change to her.

That's weird. I've never seen that happen. Are you stepping on the brake prior to this to "start" the truck up? Both using a digital key or is one still only using the old style app based key?

Disagree. Having been an owner longer, level of dependability has varied but usability has never been significantly impacted—I’ve never been stranded or been prevented from driving. Not even when the tailgate latch failed and produced persistent audio warnings during the entire drive.

Instead of thinking this is and should be like the familiar ICE cars, recognize that a pure EV is closer to a complex computer system. And like other complex computers, each software update has potential of unintended/unforeseen consequences. Healthier discussion is degree of severity, how the company responds to them and how they could improve to avoid them. One such way is more extensive testing before release. But with many impatient customers already expecting monthly newness… imagine the complaints then.

For us we haven't seen this, there have been plenty of times where we will test the car and I'll open the drivers door first and she will be a few feet away from the passenger door and it still goes to her. Sometimes it will work as expected but only when she is even further away. We've also just come to expect that it won't set the profile correctly if I open and close her door for her to get in, she then expects that when I open the driver door she will have to change the profile instead of me reaching in from outside the car.

We have developed a love/hate relationship with the car, we do like some new features (ultra wide band is awesome!) however in general we just want this expensive car to work as expected. My personal issue is why not put physical buttons on the door for profile switching? You can still make buttons software defined, it would make changing the profile/seat quickly when it's wrong. We have debated selling it and getting something else but keep hoping the next update will resolve it since there are a lot of things to like about it.

We have two R1's and sitting on an R2 order invite. I've noticed the same thing, and honestly it's part of what's making me consider a Trailseeker/BZ Woodland or Slate over the R2.

I work in tech and SW quality decline is real (and not just a Rivian problem), especially as AI tooling takes over more and more of the process. I'm at the point of wanting fewer updates and more stability. I'd rather see resources put into improving reliability and NVH.

At the same time, R2 launched with a new OS version that is incomplete, so that obviously needs to be resolved.. But it's unclear to me exactly what the value add is for the "2.0" OS vs what we all have in the R1. I like being able to move the audio panel to the left side of the display, but beyond that... Who cares?

Both are using a digital key. I don't think it's an option to use both systems. From what I remember, it cautioned you about that when you set up the new UWB key. I usually step on the brake. The instance I remember seeing it switch over, I do not recall if I had stepped on the brake prior to the switch.

It has happened many times when I was already firmly seated in the driver's seat. Usually, how we grocery shop, my wife puts the cart away, and I get the car situation as I'm driving, so I'm in before her. It still changes over a lot of the time. It happens often enough that my wife checks every time and cautions me before it's in gear as it won't switch the seat back in gear.

I've had scheduled HVAC start but not cool, etc.
I had multiple service visits that turned out to be a software bug, which was "fixed," but seems to have come back. The symptom is that remote starting or scheduled starting of the AC *while connected to an AC charger* would cause the cooling to be delayed by a long time. Around 7-10 minutes I think, even if I started riving it. Is your failure also while on your home charger?
