Hi all, first time Riv owner, two weeks now.

Installed a home charger (first EV) and completed first out of area trip this weekend. Range anxiety is diminishing.

A couple things I'd like to ask the group:

-is, or will there be, any sort of sound upgrade? buyers remorse (well, leasers remorse) on not getting the Premium Package. I'm in the vehicle two to three hours a day and rely heavily on sound. I really thought a vehicle of this stature, would have at least decent sound. This is horrible, can hear people talk (only low tones) on my podcasts and Spotify, or Apple, there are ALOT of instruments just plain not being heard......

-any way to do Apple Podcasts through the music app? ( I think not)

-"IF" I upgrade to Tidal, will it even matter on this system?

-any hardware upgrades we can make? like better speakers. I've searched and have'nt come up with anything

-OR, run a separate system all together, surface mount tweets and mids, run a sub in the back, amp, and control through phone....is there such a system available?

Love the truck, the way it drives, looks, quality of the interior, quietness (I have other loud things lol, one of which is a GT3).....but, could use some dialing in and AUDIO is a big one....
thanx all, Mike

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
If you subscribe to Tidal's hifi, there is a noticeable difference in quality for some songs. That said, I'm not sure it will make any difference on the base system. Note that I am on Gen1 Meridien which is (IMO) very good.

Rivian has not announced a SW upgrade from the base system, as far as I am aware.

Take a search on the forums - a few members upgraded their Gen1 trucks with aftermarket and saw a marked improvement.

Edit - see @usofrob post above for recommendations on EQ tweaking to get the most out of what you have. Someone else here did a full spectrum analysis which was pretty great.

Congrats on the new ride!

There is another thread posted here of a member to spent around $4,000 upgrading the audio on their gen1. I’m sure it’s possible to upgrade the standard audio. As far as a leased vehicle all you need to do is put it back to stock before you return. You could also simply buy it out and sell it if that’s feasible at lease maturity.

as far as Tidal why not try it. You should get a free trial to see and determine if you think the quality is worth the cost on standard audio.

if you decide to upgrade please share your experience.

I will say, I just got mine a few weeks ago and was pretty frustrated at first. But then I did the EQ tweaks suggested, and that coupled with the 35 update (I don’t have 39 yet), have made Apple Music sound very solid. The 39 update states there are several music tweaks which I’m hoping will also help. I’ve noticed a substantial difference in quality between Apple Music and Spotify. Almost like they engineered the system for it to the detriment of other apps.
