I haven't driven many lifted 7000 lbs pickup trucks without it. Just saying. If you're used to the truck with the anti-sway measures in place it reacts very differently without them.
So today I played with Rally for the first time. Totally agree on the plush road feel. But I kind of forgot that I had made that change when I had to merge quickly across a couple lanes and onto a highway onramp from a stop sign that didn't offer a lot of runway. The car whipped back and forth pretty hard, something I was not at all expecting. No harm done, but just underscoring the point -- with this much size and weight, you've got to keep your head in it if you're not getting the benefit of the various road-worthy safety features.

Was able to try this setting this morning on a short, bumpy, Chicago street drive - and I can confirm it actually does seem better - specifically taking bumpy streets at speed (25-45) - if you're creeping along you're gonna feel things as the vehicle tilts over them since there isn't enough force to compress the suspension. But at speed this was actually really nice.

I definitely put a vote in for them to enable this kind of setting/tuning in all-purpose mode so we can keep driver assistance aids. Hell, this should be the "default" ride comfort IN all-purpose. I really hope they update the tuning. I feel like the R1S is either way too bouncy in soft, or way too thumpy/clunky sounding/feeling in stiff. Of the two I prefer stiff as at least the bump happens - makes everything rattle - and then is DONE. Where soft makes me feel like a Mercedes in sand extraction mode - and people definitely comment on it.

I'm comforted by the fact that the vehicle is designed where it can change it's "character" so dramatically via software (meaning things CAN get better, this isn't just how it is, it's a tuning choice), but I am disappointed that the current settings feel so poorly selected.

I don't WANT to have to think about modes and switch if I'm going through surfaces where rally makes sense and then jumping on the expressway where I need to "think" about switching to all-purpose. Especially when these changes could be "tuned in" - this ride profile at these speeds in this mode, and these ride profile settings at these speeds... There's no reason we can't legitimately "have it all". But the difference, especially with passengers (I'll deal with all-purpose stiff if it's just me) makes me feel like dealing with "thinking about modes" is worth it.

OK I just learned what the Mercedes sand extraction mode is and now i want that for my R1T. You know to cruise downtown with.

Is there any downside to driving in rally all the time (except on highways)? More tire wear or anything that I should be aware of? I don’t mind having the proximity sensors off, was just curious if it may cause excessive wear on the tires or suspension for some reason. It’s just an all around much better ride for city streets compared to AP or any other mode

Only other downside I can think of is lower stability and higher rollover risk. But if you’re driving in control you should be fine.

These cars are deceptively great at providing a driving experience that belies the size and weight of the actual car. It is a new contradiction in physics. Something this big and heavy shouldn't be able to go so fast and handle so well. I respect the car and its capabilities and drive it like a very capable but large SUV. I don't drive it like a sports car.

We keep our R1S in All Purpose mode, no auto height adjustment, all the time. I tried Rally mode and agree that it provides a smoother ride when you hit bumpy stretches. I also tried turning off the stabilization in All Purpose mode and (perhaps this was only in my mind) it seemed to smooth out the bumps better as well. I wouldn't do that if I were going to be hitting highway speeds, but for around town where I max out at 40-45 MPH it might be perfect.

Here, then, is the question: Is Rally mode a lower-height version of All Purpose with the stabilization turned off?
