Vandalism on Rivian - sharing for awareness

That is terrible - someone with a large chip on their shoulder I guess -Jealousy? I have noticed some people (usually in large bro-trucks) seem to be triggered by my Rivian. Maybe they are anti EV? They change their driving behavior and I'm not talking about someone just wanting to get a closer look.

I checked out Next Door on the app store but am put off by their privacy ratings (lack of, that is).

I would post this on Nextdoor. I don’t really like that app but I found someone who damaged my Tesla in a day after posting it. This was in Sherman oaks so I’m sure people would be just as helpful.

Hi Everyone,

Keep an eye out for this guy. This happened at Topanga Village before the mall opened, while I was at my appointmen. When i reciewed the other videos and my drive cam if he was following me. I found out that he's the car next to me when i parked. He got in his car and 2 minutes later, when he was leaving the lot, he stopped at my car just to put dents and scratches. ?. I filed a police report already, but I'm not so hopeful that he will get my car fix. I just hope that he won't do this to others. And sadly, my quote for the fix is over 5k. Please be careful everyone

Why? I really dont understand why there is so much hate. You just don’t know the person at all; but you have so much hate that you will vandalize. Did he have a bad day or… sorry OP, I do get philosophical. I hope you get it fixed and he may pay? ?

OP, your insurance should cover this under comprehensive as a not at fault incident. Especially with your evidence. They will most likely just need a police report, which in most jurisdictions can be an event number for documentation. Insurance doesn’t usually count those incidents under your policy. It shouldn’t effect your premiums.

Disgusting and completely unacceptable behavior. I'm sorry that this happened to you and can empathize with how you must have felt when you discovered it.

File a police report and also if that's a parking garage. Hopefully they have video surveillance? This guy needs to be caught because this is ridiculous to people do these type of things and we all pay for it in the way of increased insurance premiums.

They need to NAB this guy or gal and hold him or her accountable.

Look into paintless dent repair. The fix can be a couple hundreds of dollars and not thousands

On what planet is it okay to do $5000 damage just because you don't like somebody's car? This shouldn't be so tricky. An almost-empty parking garage before opening. You'd think there would be a surveillance photo or something. Keep us posted. I would really like to see this guy get caught.

While there is no excuse for his actions, you gotta wonder about the motivations. Some form of mental illness, perhaps, or are you parked in a spot reserved for disabled people without an identifying license plate or placard? Unstable people can lose it over that.
