VINs are assigned sequentially prior to production, but the actual order off the line is random. At Rivian's production levels they are probably only assigning a few hundred VINs at a time so it's a good bet VIN 3500 would have been built after VIN 1400.The Vins don't go in order because of the checksum right? So XX3500 wouldn't mean it's the 3,500th off the line I assume.
The checksum is in position 9 of the VIN - it's set based on the value of the 10th - 17th position (year, plant and then 6 digits for serial place in production for that model/config).The Vins don't go in order because of the checksum right? So XX3500 wouldn't mean it's the 3,500th off the line I assume.
