No dude, I ordered from them because they offered a solution to not cut the panels. You can choose to deny the website is misleading. You can also choose to ignore the invoice reflecting the armor panels being included. You are not my target audience. However, I am forced to respond to your nonsensical assumptions to bring light to this matter. You already made your opinions known. You no longer need to chime in.

Btw, I didn't choose this battle. I can either stay quiet or hopefully someone can learn from my mistake(s). I bet you the members here will look more closely now. Again, you do you man.
I acknowledged it’s misleading…many times. The invoice doesn’t reflect the panels included it just reflects that same misleading title.

Agree 100%. In retail, any transaction between vendor and customer done “in good faith” should follow these simple 2 rules:

Rule #1: the customer is always right

Rule #2: if the customer is wrong, see Rule #1
It's a real pet peeve of mine when that phrase is misused. The phrase "the customer is always right" refers to what a customer wants to buy. It means that the customer knows best about what they want, NOTHING ELSE. The application of that phrase has created thousands of entitled assholes who think whining, crying and stomping their feet in a retail establishment is the way to get what they want.

To be clear I'm not saying that applies in this case. OP admits his original mistake, and the company offered a resolution they later backtracked on which is poor customer service.

Thank you for acknowledging that. Again, the parties have already accepted their mutual mistakes. The issue is not honoring the subsequent refund agreement.

Perhaps a lesson here is don't order stuff from your phone. I guess I'm getting old, but I prefer to order most things (besides take-out food, concert tickets, etc.) from my computer. Some webpages can be a bit tricky on mobile devices.
In the industry I'm in 80% of our web clients use mobile to access our internet resources. I think most people are using mobile now, so much so that IMO web design needs to be set up to be mobile friendly first, or a redirect put in on a webpage for mobile users to a more mobile friendly design.

FWIW, I prefer using my laptop as well. That's because I can't work from my mobile and I'm usually working while doing things like surfing here or reading news.

This is going to blow your mind so buckle up. I’m going to use pictures to help illustrate.

Here is option 1:
IMG_6824.webp

These are standard running boards for a Rivian R1S, as written. Thank god for the written word!

Here is option 2:
IMG_6825.webp

These are standard running boards for a Rivian R1T. If you have an R1T instead of an R1S, these are just the product for you!

Here is option 3:
IMG_6826.webp

Here’s where it gets interesting. These are also running boards for a Rivian R1S but they also include the armor protect the panels that the OP is after. The price even jumps up to $788! One can assume this is because the optional armor plates carry an additional cost to the manufacturer. They made a silly typo and wrote “armors protect panels” but at least it’s in writing. Phew!

Lastly, here is option 4:
IMG_6827.webp

Just like option 3, this option include the armor protect panels for the running boards, but these are for R1T owners.

Note that for all 4 options the main title on the page doesn’t change. This is poor website design and should be fixed since it can lead to mistakes like the OPs, but by and large most people are able to figure out that there are 4 different options and how to choose the correct one.

And here is the kicker, if you look at the OPs invoice it includes the misleading, catch all title that doesn’t change across the 4 product options (stupid design and misleading) but under that is the highlighted sub text which just so happens to match the description from option 1. Woah!

Hope this helps.
It doesn’t help because it assumes knowledge after the fact. If you follow the ordering steps for a 2025 R1S as I described earlier, you won’t be clicking on the options which don’t pertain to you because you were led to believe the product selected by default is the product you want. I think you’re assuming that everyone clicks every option on that page, and, if so, that’s a bad assumption. Now, can you just answer my simple question: For all of us who rely on the written word, what exactly on the invoice or on the screen shot I included warloeris telling a consumer that they are NOT getting the,
“2025 R1S R1T Rock Sliders Nerf Bars Side Step Underbody Protection Running Boards With Lower Rocker Armor Panels For Rivian” described at the price shown for a 2025 R1S and without lettering?

Can you show something in writing which contradicts the description I quoted above from the screen shots I provided? If I missed something in writing on the ordering process for a 2025 Rivian R1S (default choice) No Letter option then I’ll certainly admit I was wrong.

Rob, he already admitted it was misleading. He even stated the invoice was an error. He was highlighting the fact that if you click the pictures, a different price pops up. However, I hope he can acknowledge that most people won't be clicking if the default is on the item they want and the only option is with or without letters. Thank you for articulating my position better than I could.

I promise I’m not trying to argue with @freshpow but instead I’m trying to show exactly how people could easily get to the point you did if they have a 2025 R1S.

In fact, this wouldn’t have been a problem for me because I have a 2023 and I would’ve been forced to make a choice on this page if I wanted something other than the base product:
Rivian R1T R1S WARNING!! EVBASE ISSUE 1746412937647-c6

The description above is nice and generic forcing the shopper to explore options. I cannot imagine what drove the decision to change to the newer page and what is driving the reluctance to fix the potentially misleading language for the 2025+.
Edit: deleted duplicate image

I will not acknowledge that. For me personally, whenever there are multiple options I’ll click through them all - partly out of curiosity and also to avoid a situation like the one you’ve found yourself in. You didn’t even need to click through them though…just look at the pictures that are staring at you.

I respectfully disagree. It wasn't obvious to me. It defaulted to a 2025 R1S and the only option I assumed I had was with or without letters. The invoice also led be to believe I ordered the correct part. I relied on their representation to my detriment.

I explained, in detail, above how it’s the subtext in the invoice that matches to the subtext on the ordering page for option 1. I’m sure if OP were to dive deeper into that invoice and click on “view your order” there is probably a SKU # tied to the order that also matches to option 1.

I’ve already acknowledged the whole thing is misleading/confusing, but not to the degree you guys are trying to argue. If it was, this issue would be happening frequently and we’d be hearing about it.

So we can all agree on it being confusing or misleading. My opinion from my perspective is that the subtext you keep referencing doesn’t help at all, because my first thought seeing it would be that it got truncated and that was irrelevant because the big bold print above it was showing me what I wanted to order. If I never saw any of the other options I would never know that the subtext description was accurate and not truncated.

I think the fact that the page I showed for the equivalent Gen1 product illustrates how it can be clearer with less text on the page in the main description. Someone knew how to present this better, and I’m just left scratching my head about the change for the Gen2 page. If someone had copied the Gen1 page to use as a template for Gen2 and then updated for Gen2 where needed this never would’ve happened. It took more work and more typing to make it worse.

I think we all agree on the misrepresentation. It's okay if some don't think this is a big deal. They are not the folks I'm trying to help. Again, if one member can learn from my mistake, it's worth the $210 EV Base wants to desperately keep.

I’d be willing to bet that someone from EV Base will show up for work tomorrow, start their Monday morning reading here, and you’ll get some kind of response.

Nah, they are obstinate. If they do, pick a charity and I will donate all to them.

Ok but if you want to focus on the big bold text and use that as the gospel, it also includes “R1T” when the OP is ordering for an R1S. Shouldn’t that raise some red flags if you're saying that what OP receives should match exactly to that title?

In that case, OP really got screwed over because he’s owed two pairs of sliders, one for R1S and one for R1T, and both should have the armor! 🤣
