Probably a replacement for the slippery textured mat. With Gen 2 Rivian added a dividing ridge in the middle. This keeps phones from sliding side to side, but since the material is the same, phones can still slide fore and aft.

This is an add-on silicone mat that prevents the phone from sliding around while charging. Sorry guys, I wasn't clear haha

The item in the link is also a silicone mat that covers the wireless charging area. I bought it last year. And while the silicone mat did help with the grip it also caused excessive heat build up for the wireless charging pad itself. After only a few weeks, the surface of the original charging pad developed a bulge in the middle where my phone used to rest. I suspect that the charging pad heat up during use and there was no place for the heat to dissipate due to the additional layer on top. Just something to think about on your design.
