Or here’s another idea: allow HDMI in, and make USB power available nearby. Then one could put an Amazon/Roku etc stick in, connect to wifi hotspot or phone data, and merrily watch whatever. You can install AirPlay on the AMZN stick and hell, that’s Alexa! Of course, only available when the car is in park. This has the benefit of protecting against moral obsolescence — in the future, just upgrade the stick and put it in. Let’s go!!! Let’s make use of that awesome screen!!! ???

All of these things require Rivian to implement some change to their infotainment system/SW.

I think about these issues with a simple approach that basically say what can I do to make happen.

One approach. Use my iPad and make my phone a hotspot. Connect. iPad to ALL streaming service apps on iPad, and hang it onto the Rivian screen or set it somewhere easy.

On my Tesla, I use their steaming service since it's provided. If and when Rivian provide it, then I'll use the that (or if Rivian provide being a hotspot ability, then I can use it with iPad).

We help people sell their Rivian in the easiest way possible.
I don’t care about CarPlay, but I want AirPlay/Google Cast/MiraCast. That way, when recharging or at a camp site I can watch whatever I want on the big screen. Movies etc with all those speakers. Who’s in?
YES. Don't get me wrong, i like the carplay. I drove a car for awhile that didn't have it so it's a blessing but imagine watching your favorite shows while you recharge. Would make time go by a lot faster.

Yeah... I have an old iPad mini that I threw into the center console for this purpose but I have never actually used it.

If you're not going to give me Car Play, fine.

But AirPlay and Apple Music would be nice. Why do I HAVE to invest in Spotify when I already have Apple Music? And watching a video on your Rivian Display while charging shouldn't be anything different than watching with your family in your living room. 45 minute charge, that's about 1 Ted Lasso episode....multitasking at its' best!

Admittedly it has been several years since I have done this, but do iPhones really not support basic control over Bluetooth anymore?
