Anyone else surprised Rivian isn’t going all out to move vehicles before the end of the federal tax credit? Perhaps they’ll announce something after 15-Sept but there were much better deals around the G2 launch.

Wonder if we'll get a strong End of Quarter Push? Haven't seen any evidence thus far.

Stop pretending Rivian has the capital to push incentives. They broke

Current incentives expire today. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. I’m prepared to pull the trigger on a Gen 2 if the price is right. I’ll know more in the morning.

Anyone have any luck with some additional incentives? Very quiet on the sales front.

They still have the $14k discount on most configs - what more do you need?

They need to do the purchase agreement for R2 to get around the expiring tax credit. Too little, too late at this point to probably do that though.

I feel like the impending tax credit end is enough of an incentive for this month. Next month, they'll likely need some incentive.

Last chance for the tax credit has most EV sales moving along nicely.
Going to need the incentives for October and forward to compete with other manufacturers.

The main issue w/ the "$14k" incentive is to get the full amount, you need to choose a build w/ the Performance Package, which is a $5k upcharge. That effectively wipes away the additional $6,500 that sits on top of the $7,500 tax credit.

If you want the Performance Package, then I guess its a good incentive, but for me, it's superfluous (<= I've always wanted to use that word...). The "normal" 533hp is more than I'll ever need.

If I could have gotten the $6,500 off a "normal" Dual Max, then I would have already done it. And believe me, I tried...three times. My "guide" just said "sorry".

I suspect a price drop starting Oct 1st, similar to what Tesla did when the tax credit was cut in half back in 2018-ish. May not account for the full tax credit loss, but should offset a big chunk.

I’m in a very similar boat. Performance Package means nothing to me. I would expect Rivian to move every single vehicle they could prior to Oct 1st, even if it means subsidized leases with inflated residuals so they’re not leaving federal money on the table.

Exactly why would you add incentives now when people will buy anyways, they will save it for next month.

To follow up on this, I was contacted by a Rivian guide this afternoon, asking if I was still interested in upgrading to the Gen 2. I told her I was, but that the current incentives weren’t enough to get me out of my “extremely good” Gen 1 lease.

She asked what I was looking at as far as configurations, and said she’d give it a shot. I told her (Gen 2 Dual Max, flexible on colors, but no All Terrain package). That was the last I heard from her…

Basically giving away the performance package. Could be this package has less value than the option price suggests. Is it really something different or just a software box to click?

Yes, considering you can add it via the car display after purchase. But I went for the incentive knowing I'd be too tempted to push that button anyway.
