I was out of town for a little over a week. My Gen 1 2022 R1T Quad Large had auto-installed the latest update (custom interior lighting) while I was away. When I returned, I was able to drive the car as normally to work. However, when I was leaving work later that day the car would not shift out of park and displayed the following error:
The car was not plugged in at this point. It was instead in an underground parking garage at my office. I did soft and hard resets. It was still not working. I couldn't get the car in gear to drive. I called Rivian service. They asked me to check the Energy screen to see if it thought the car was plugged in. The car did not show it was plugged in but then the charge port door, which I had tried to open and close earlier, would no longer close from either the Braille-like button near it nor the touchscreen. Oddly, after sitting in the driver's seat for about 5 minutes after the hard reset, I was able to shift into gear and start driving.
Then on my way home while driving, the following message appeared mid-drive:
I was able to get the car home. Rivian service asked me to bring the car in that same day and said they'd arrange a tow if the car would not shift into gear. I was able to get it to the service center but when I parked it there, the same error message game up.
My preliminary estimate wrote that a new central gateway module may be needed but we'll see. I'm just posting this for reference in case anyone else has the issue. Interestingly, I previously had the central gateway module replaced about a month after initial delivery in 10/2022 because the car would not L3 charge.
