I believe thats for the pedestrian warning speaker - the noise that the car makes when you drive at lower speeds to alert pedestrians that you are nearby.

Speaker for the shhhhhhhhh sound. There's also one in the back on passenger side. I stuck black duct tape over both of mine.

FYI, that's not a mud flap. That's an air dam that directs air around the tire. Mud flaps would necessarily be behind the tire.

Ahh. Makes sense. Thanks for the info! Now I feel stupid and wish Rivian service corrected me instead of just going along with it.
