No please! Every vehicle I have been in with a camera instead of an analog mirror (Toyota being the worst) induces vertigo in me and LESS confidence in using it as the FOV is unnatural. Glad to hear RJ reiterate in a video I watched this week that it is the one thing he adamantly pushes back against with his designers.
It's use is optional in any vehicle I've driven (the way it should be). I like having the camera for situations where the rear view is blocked, by people or cargo. It's definitely nice to have it on my Sierra when we have a bunch of bikes over the bed, and I miss having it when I'm driving my R1T with a tent on the bed.

The rear view mirror should be a screen and camera so I don't have to keep adjusting the mirror after the wife and I swap. Most high end cars use a camera now, not a mirror. The mirror is also useless when someone sits in the middle of the 2nd row.

First world problems.
In my younger years, before bifocals, I might have agreed with you. But, try driving a vehicle that has a camera image instead of a reflected image in the rear view mirror…go ahead, I’ll wait. Notice how you have to crane your neck like you’re looking at the clouds just so you can see a clear image out the rear view mirror? Now multiply that to the number of times one uses the rear view mirror. Soon you find that you wish that you had the mirror back so you didn’t have to crane your neck every time you need to see anything behind you.

*edit*
The only thing I’ve had addressed on my 22 R1T quad:
* 12v battery replaced
* replaced front dampers (front suspension was sagging overnight)

Not having a full size spare in an adventure off road vehicle? really? No apple car play which is a safety feature. fan directional guides only being electric on the panel. Otherwise, it has been a great vehicle and we do use it off road and not just for speed bumps in LA!! ))

My biggest disappointment is that after only 85,000 miles I had to have the half shafts and brakes replaced. Brakes include the rotors as they don't turn rotors. This is a crazy high expense for a truck with such low miles. I use regen all of the time and rarely use cruise control since it relies on the brakes instead of the regen. My wife's Tesla model S went 185,000 miles over 10 yrs. and we did NO maintenance at all. Not even brakes. Just tires and wiper blades. What is wrong with Rivian and their (adventure) vehicle.

i LOVE the actual mirror that has an unlimited focal range, unlike a camera which has a fixed focal range. it take my eyes an uncomfortable amount of time to focus on a camera rearview.

After 3 years of ownership I don't really have many complaints. The issues I have had were really specific and Rivian addressed them perfectly.

Tire damage: Sure it happens to any vehicle. I have the patch liquid in the trunk that Rivian provided so I can get home and get the tire replaced. If not Roadside
Paint: The paint on both my R1S's has been great and this isn't from me but a professional detailers who did ceramic coating. They said it was really good and up there with its cost
Software: Yeah software has challenges but this isn't exclusive to Rivian but everything today (not just cars)
Rattles: A few but nothing to really complain about nor that seems problematic

I might have an amazing build or I am one of the many that just aren't out there being loud about it.

My only two gripes is the clock location. It’s only good if you are a passenger. lol.
YES! The time and temperature are an awkward spot for the driver. Not unseeable but a bit closer would be nice. Heck, a second display of time and temp on the driver's screen would work.

I've owned four Ts. The earlier mentioned creaks and rattles on an expensive vehicle are inexcusable. For the first 25-30,000 vehicles I get it. Wind noise is still not good, "McLaren" suspension is nothing but problems, hvac issues and different rattles in each truck get tiring. QC at this point should be better. Can't imagine what R2 will bring.😳🙄

I've only had it a short time but the first annoying thing was how loud the heat pump is while parked inside my garage and I am not in the truck. Fortunately from inside the truck, it's not that noticeable.

Once or twice the truck did not automatically unlock when I walked up to it. Had to pull my phone out to use the app to unlock it.
once or twice? In the 3+ years of ownership I’d say I had to use the fob or pull out my phone once or twice a day!!! And every time the SC says working as intended.

I’d say the firsts are usually hardware and software glitches, ranging from minor to major. Some even due to user error and not knowing how things work—example, turn signal auto cancel complaints (turning vs lane change). The more major ones would be seemingly premature 12V failures.

With my own T, the first and only actual failure so far (aside from failure to obey speed limits) is the tailgate latch.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
From what I’ve read on these forums: doors not automatically unlocking using the proximity feature with various devices, doors unlocking unnecessarily when the person is at home and the vehicle is in their garage or driveway, wind noise due to issues with seals around the windshield and other windows, having to reset the vehicle after an update, various rattles and creaks, windshields cracking too easily, the wireless phone chargers not working well, and 12V battery issues (ie discharging and recharging which vampire drains the main pack).

Yes, just once or twice in the short time I owned it. It's a brand new Gen 2 so maybe things have been improved since you got yours.
