Using 3%-4% running around town 6 miles looks pretty darn good, not in my world. Indeed, my R1S consumed 8% charge and 32 battery miles (the state of charge change from one day to the next) around town, 19 actual miles of travel. That includes overnight drain.

Here's a random sampling from my logs of overnight vampire drain ( miles and percentage changes) over consecutive days:

-5 -2%,
-6 -1%,
-7 -3%.
-4 -1%,
-4 -1%,
-3 0%.
Have tried putting my R1S in camp mode and shutting power off and locking it whenever it is parked in my garage.
I wish the add could be killed. There just doesn't seem to be a way to disable it; it keeps turning itself on.
Ooooofff, Rivian doesn't seem to care at this point or they would have addressed VD over the 3 yrs (first R1 deliveries were Oct 2021) the R1's have been out in the field.
Unless they come up with some miracle fix, I think we're going to have to accept the fact that the R1's experience excessive vampire drain compared to other EV's like the Bolt, the i3, Ford EV's, etc.. :(

Thank you. Agreed. I tend to not care anymore. It is what it is. My other EVs, the Model Y sleeps like the proverbial baby at little if no drain at all while sitting parked. Sometimes nothing, other times 1 mile a day, if that, but I do put the Tesla app to sleep also. My other Tesla the Model S does seem to have some sort of insomnia sometimes; it actually can have higher overnight drain than the R1S, 7 miles 3 percentage points loss, 2% tyoical, and other times less drain, a mile or two. Reason why I think that killing the Rivian app to sleep might help with VD. Or maybe not.

Welcome to the Rivian family.

Let me ask this, what is/was the weather like?. We are experiencing a weird October heat wave in Northern California and when I walk outside the fan on the R1T is on.

If you are having unusally temperatures (really cold or really hot), the fan and/or heaters will activate and that will drain your battery. When I am at home I will usually plug the R1T in in the late evening and only charge to 90%....very rearely do I go to 100% and if I don't plug in and it is warm, I will lose about 5% or so of battery.

Well, went to the Niner game, walked back to the truck, parked in 100* heat, and the truck wouldn't turn on or open. Had to call Rivian service and was told the truck "went to sleep". I'm the one who needed to go to sleep after watching the Niner game in 100* heat with the truck a mile away.

Curious as to why it "went to sleep".......Rivian service (which was very responsive) told me to do the ole put the card under the hood and trigger up to 10 times......worked though. How the heck am I supposed to remember all these quirks?

I think it was the truck telling you that it was sad the Niners lost....come on.......13 point lead starting the 3rd quarter and they ave up 14 point?. We need CMC and Dre back. Mason is a beast but not enough games under him to not make fumbles. I bet heat played a part in the loss as well.

I never knew about the keycard trick. When you say "under the hood" are you meaning where you press to open the hood?.....you put the card therE?

Er, what??? There are no RFID readers under the hood.

Did they tell you to press the hood release button 10 times perhaps?

Early on, when my R1T was unresponsive to the fob, I used to press the driver side gear tunnel release button a bunch of times and that used to wake her up to the point where the fob would work again.

THE Rivian rep did tell me to put the FOB near the hood button/relaease, (and I wasn't issued a FOB, just a Hilton card lol), Maybe have the FOB/card key has the same effect as the door handle? not sure, but after two or three presses of the hood release button the vehicle woke up.

I'd really like to know why it was "asleep". I did try turning on the AC remotely from about a mile away, I can't help but think that did something....

I actually think it was me LOL, I have that kinda power. I was 0-15 going to the Raider games, I stepped away in the 2nd qtr to go get food and we ran the blocked FG attempt back for a touchdown. My brother told my wife, "have Mike stay away" lol....

I mean, AZ was playing in their element too....heat, red jerseys everywhere...etc etc...CMC coming back will make a HUGE difference I"MO

^ they use the term "asleep", but there are many levels of sleep. Most of the day your Rivian should be "asleep" in deep sleep mode. Even in that mode it should wake up via commands from the fob.

My daughter is a HUGE HUGE HUGE Niner fan and every time she watches in a close game, they lose. She started leaving the room and they would win. So when they are losing or it is getting close, I text her and say "go to the other room.....do it for the Niners". ......she does and dag nabbit, they win!

Here’s another data set for long term phantom drain. Just got back from an 18 day trip to Europe. I charged to 90% before leaving, 65% remaining when I got home, or about 1.4% per day average. I checked on it with the Rivian app only 3 times while I was away, so it should have been sleeping the vast majority of the time. No other apps, utilities, etc. set up to talk to the truck (i.e. Home Assistant, etc) that would poll it or otherwise wake it up. Gear Guard at home turned off. Temperatures were 55-75 most of the time I was away. Software Version 2024.35.0
